BCIL-BIITP Bio Informatics Industrial Training Program 2010-11

Here is an excellent opportunity for Engineering and Science Graduates and Post Graduates. Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), functioning under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Govt. of India is conducting a Bio-Informatics Industrial Training Program (BIITP) for the year 2010-11. The notification is issued on 12th March 2011. This program will be very much useful for those aspiring to settle in bio-informatics industry. Selected candidates will be paid a stipend along with training in a registered company. Following are details of stipend, selection procedure and application process:

Bio-Informatics Industrial Training Program (BIITP): Eligibility for the BCIL- BIITP training program is B.Tech./ B.E./ M.Sc./ M.Tech/ Advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Bioinformatics. Candidates qualified in BINC examination also eligible. Selected candidates will be trained for six months in BCIL registered biotechnology and bioinformatics company. They will be paid a stipend of Rs. 8000 per month during the training program. The program is also useful for the companies they can absorb the talented candidates after the completion of the training.

Application Procedure: Interested candidates can apply online and application forms are available at http://www.bcil.nic.in/biitp2010-11/index.asp . The form has to be filled online only. Computer generated application forms have to be sent to BCIL along with a DD for Rs. 250 drawn in favour of ‘Biotech Consortium India Limited’ payable at New Delhi. You must write your application ID, Name, Date of Birth and Mobile No. on the reverse of the DD. Attested photo copies of all marks sheets and certificates also should be sent along with application.

IBAB Bangalore M.Sc. Bioinformatics and Biotechnology Admissions 2011-12

Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bangalore issued notification for admission to its prestigious course M.Sc Bio informatics and Biotechnology Course. The course will commence from July 2011. This is an innovative course to provide competence and skills in both biotechnology and computational biology/ bioinformatics by providing training in the relevant areas of cell and molecular biology, computer science, statistics, bio-informatics etc. IBAB is one of the leading institute for training in Bioinformatics and the institute also offers PG Diploma in Bioinformatics for which notification will be issued separately.

Eligibility of M.Sc. Bioinformatics and Biotechnology: Applicants should have B.Sc. degree in any branch of science or technology. It could be in life sciences (Agriculture, Biotechnology etc.), Physics, Statistics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Pharma, Engineering, veterinary (B.V.Sc.) or medicine (MBBS) with minimum of 55 percent marks. Those awaiting final year results also can apply. Fee for regular students is Rs. 50000 per semester. For NRIs, fee is Rs. 75000 per semester. Fee does not include hostel fee, deposits or any other and it is only a tuition fee.

Selection will based on the performance in online test and interview. The online test can be taken by all the candidates from anywhere with a good computer and a decent internet connection. You can write it from your home as well if you have good internet connection. A trial test also will be conducted for candidate’s familiarity with test patterns and system and to check the computer specifications.
