Advanced Course in Bioinformatics (ACB) in IICT – CDAC- JNTU

Bioinformatics is an interdisciplinary field that has several branches like IT, Biology, chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics and Chemical Engineering. A student who is interested in bioinformatics field should have real passion for this subject. It has bright careers in the areas of drug design, searching the similarities in unknown species and also in evolutionary studies. Since India is a tropical country and several diseases are harbored here. To find out a suitable drug is a grand challenging problem. Many companies are looking for a bright bioinformatician who can take up this as a challenging career. Since drug design helps in finding the drug targets that will lead for new drug discovery. In summary bioinformatics has a bright future in the coming years.

The course is more useful to IT students, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Veterinary doctors, medical doctors, Ayurvedic doctors etc., Since IT professionals are not getting suitable placement, and bioinformatics is the better option. Many companies like Biocon, Astrageneca, Ranbaxy etc. are recruiting these professionals. Excellent education and career opportunities are there in India and abroad for this course. The kind of experience they get in IICT will be highly useful in their further career. Most of the students will go to abroad for higher education like MS or integrated PhD and the IICT ACB experience will be highly useful for them. A couple of students got admission in M.Tech IIIT Hyderabad from the recent batch.

The kind of experience students of ACB get in IICT is unique, unparalleled and exiting. IICT is internationally renowned organization and CDAC is authentic in IT field. JNTU will also support in faculty and other related things. Our scientists are highly qualified and internationally competitive to give their research output to the students that they never get in anywhere in this country. Many of the students from far of places like North East region Srinagar, Eastern parts like Kharghapur, Bhilai, etc., will come to IICT to write the ACB entrance examination. In summary it is a great opportunity to the students who wish to go for higher education in the area of bioinformatics.

Admission notification for ACB course will be released around April- May every year. This is six months course. You can get details like fee, course structure, and application procedure and selection process from www.iictindia.org .
