Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP), New Delhi has issued admission notification 2011 for Post Graduate Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering. The course is designed to cater the needs of thermal power industry in the country. Duration of the course is 52 weeks (One year). Available seats are 60. After completion of this course, the Engineers / candidates would be eligible for operation and maintenance of power plants of capacity 100 MW and above. The course is also recognised by Central Electricity Authority (CEA). Following are details of the programme, eligibility, selection and application procedure:

Eligibility for Post Graduate Diploma Course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering: The applicants should have obtained B.E. / B.Sc. (Engineering), AMIE or equivalent degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics and Communication / Control and Instrumentation / Power Engineering. Candidates those appearing in their final year examination may also apply. Graduate Engineers (BE / B.Techs) sponsored by State Electricity Boards / Power Utilities and Private Companies with minimum one year post qualification experience are also eligible to apply. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in BE / B-Tech. / equivalent degree.

Course fee is Rs.1,30,000/- . Fee has to be paid in 3 installments. Fee for sponsored candidates is Rs. 150000/-. Selection of the candidates will be based on the marks obtained in 10th, 12th and BE or equivalent
examination. The weightage would be in the ratio of 10, 20, 70 percent respectively for each examination. Admission counseling will be held at CBIP, Malcha Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi and the date of counseling will be informed to the candidates. National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Neyveli (Southern Region) has announced admission notification 2011-12 for its prestigious programme called Post Diploma in Thermal Power Plant Engineering (PDTPPE) for the academic session 2011-12 . The NPTI is a specialised education and training institute established to cater the needs of power industry. The NPTI is functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Power, Government of India. The Post Diploma course is exclusively designed for Diploma engineers to enhance their employability and domain knowledge. Following are details such as eligibility, course fee and application procedure:

Eligibility Requirements for Post Diploma in Thermal Power Engineering: Applicants should have three years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Power Control and Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent with at least 60 percent marks. Selection of the candidates for the programme will be based on marks in Diploma only. Graduate engineers are not eligible for this programme. There will be no entrance test. There are 77 seats in total and some seats are reserved for sponsored candidates. Applicants age should be below 27 years as on 30-09-2011.

Interested and eligible candidates can apply on the plain paper in the prescribed format. Applications forms can also be downloaded from www.npti.in OR www.nptisr.com. Completed application forms along with a DD for Rs. 700/- drawn in favour of NPTI, and payable at Neyveli should reach the ‘Principal Director, National Power Training Institute (SR), Neyveli – 607803’. Last date for the receipt of filled in applications is 23rd September 2011. Dates of counseling will be informed to the candidates through email.

Course Fee for non-sponsored candidates is Rs.110000 and for sponsored candidates, fee is Rs. 150000.
