NISER Bhubaneswar Ph.D admissions 2011-12

National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, Orissa is inviting applications for admission to Ph.D. Program in Science. NISER is a reputed institute for education and research in Biological, Chemical and Physical Sciences. All the candidates should have qualified in CSIR-NET/ GATE/ JEST/ NBHM/ INSPIRE or equivalent examination valid for the present year in the relevant area of research. UGC-CSIR or any JRF qualified candidates can avail the fellowship directly from UGC or CSIR or any other organisation. Students selected for Ph.D. based on GATE/ GPAT/ JEST are eligible for financial aid (Assistantship / Scholarship) from NISER, Bhubaneswar. The Ph.D. Program is scheduled to commence from December 2011 in the following schools of basic sciences:

1. School of Biological Sciences; Eligibility: Applicants should have 60 percent marks in Masters Degree in any branch of Biology, life sciences and bioinformatics. Candidates with masters in any branch of natural or computer sciences with interest in pursuing career in biology are also eligible. Main research area of the school are Bioinformatics, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Plant biology, Molecular and Developmental Genetics, Molecular Microbiology and Neurogenetics.

2. School of Chemical Sciences: Candidates should have 60 percent marks in M.Sc. or its equivalent degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Material Science, Applied Chemistry or any one of the subject. Main research area for this School are Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry.

3. School of Physical Sciences: Applicants should have 60 percent in M.Sc or 60 percent in an equivalent degree in Engineering. For all disciplines, applicants age should not be more than 28 years on December 01, 2011.

Interested candidates can obtain application forms from the Academic Section, NISER Bhubaneswar. Those candidates intending to apply for more than one Ph.D. program should use separate application forms for each program. They should enclose appropriate enclosures for each application. There is no entrance fee for Ph.D. program. Candidates should enclose two letters of reference also. CSIR – CECRI Ph.D Admissions January 2012 Session

Central Electrochemical Research Institute (CECRI), Karaikudi has announced notification for admission into Ph.D. Programme for January 2012 academic Session. CECRI is a research organisation functioning under the purview of CSIR. The subject of electrochemistry is an interdisciplinary area. Following are details of eligibility, selection and application procedure:

Eligibility: Applicants should have first class M.Sc. degree or equivalent in Chemical or Physical or Biological and related sciences. Candidates should have qualified in CSIR / UGC-NET Examination with a valid Rank OR applicants with a valid DST- INSPIRE fellowship in the above disciplines are also eligible. Candidates with NET qualification are not eligible for Ph.D. Programme of CECRI.

Selection procedure: Selection of the candidates will be based on counseling or interview to be conducted at CECRI. Those selected for the Ph.D. Programme at CECRI shall get fellowship and other allowances, contingency etc. as per the applicable rules of the fellowship agency.
