NIPER Notification for Ph.D. Admissions 2012-13

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education (NIPER) has issued admission notification for Ph.D. programme being offered in various disciplines for the academic year 2012-13. NIPER is a premier institute for education, training and research in pharmaceutical and other related subjects. Admission for Ph.D. Program will be based on the combined merit obtained in the written test and interview conducted by NIPER. The NIPER has academic and research centers at Chandigarh (SAS Nagar- Punjab), Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Hajipur, Guwahati and Rae Barelli (Uttar Pradesh). The research programmes are offered in the the disciplines of Chemical, Biological and Pharmaceutical Sciences. NIPER conducts joint admissions for all its campuses. Details of disciplines offered in various campuses and application procedure are given below:

Biological Sciences:
1) Pharmacology and Toxicology: Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/ M.Pharm./ M.Sc. (Pharmacology)/ M.V.Sc./M.D.
2) Biotechnology: Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/M.Pharm./ M.Sc. (Life Science)
3) Pharmaceutical Technology (Biotechnology): Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/ M.Pharm./ M.Sc. (Life Science)

Pharmaceutical Sciences:
1) Pharmaceutics: Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/ M.Pharm
2) Pharmaceutical Technology (Formulations): Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/ M.Pharm.

Chemical Sciences:
1) Medicinal Chemistry: Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/ M.Pharm./ M.Sc.(Organic Chemistry)
2) Natural Products: Eligibility: M.S. (Pharm.)/M.Pharm./ M.Sc. (Organic Chemistry)

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants should have M.Pharma/ MS (Pharma)/ Masters in concerned discipline of Pharmacy or equivalent. They should have minimum 60 percent aggregate marks. Candidates also need valid valid GATE/ NET scores. Those studying their final year of qualifying degree can also apply. NIPER shall conduct and entrance exam with a duration of 2 hours. There will be two sections. Section-I will consist of questions on general pharmaceutical sciences and Section-II will contain questions on specialization in the concerned discipline.

GPAT 2012 Notification, Application and Results Info

All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced notification for Graduate Pharmacy aptitude Test (GPAT 2012) for admission to Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharmacy) and Doctoral programmes in Pharmacy offered in Govt. and Private colleges across the country. GPAT 2012 will be held on 6th May 2012 and the results of the GPAT 2012 will be declared on 31st May 2012. Candidates can avail the results of GPAT 2012 from www.gpat.in OR msubaroda.ac.in. GPAT syllabus has been changed recently and candidates can obtain the latest syllabus from the above mentioned websites. Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodra is organising the GPAT 2012. Here are details of qualifications, question paper pattern and application procedure:

Qualifications: Applicants should have Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharmacy of 4 years duration after 10+2). Candidates who are appearing for final year of B.Pharmacy course are also eligible for GPAT 2012. Candidates admitted into pharmacy courses through GPAT score will get MHRD and other government scholarships and also eligible for research or teaching assistantships offered by universities and colleges. GPAT qualified candidates are also eligible for Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in CSIR Laboratories and they can work in sponsored projects. The GPAT 2012 examination consists of a single question paper with 100 Multiple Choice Questions. Duration of the exam is 3 hours.

Interested candidates can apply online only through GPAT 2012 website at www.gpat.in OR through www.msubaroda.ac.in. Application fee is Rs. 1000 for General and OBC categories and Rs. 500 for SC/ ST/ PD categories. GPAT score is valid for only one year. Wrong answers will be given a negative mark of 1/3. The examination tests candidate’s knowledge and aptitude in Pharmacy.

2. Online Application website closes on: 20st February 2012
3. Last date for receipt of print out of online application along with necessary enclosures: 27th February 2012
4. GPAT 2012 Examination: 6th May 2012
5. GPAT 2012 Results: 31st May 2012.
