B.Tech Exams – Tips for Success in Electronics Subject

Electronics disciplines in engineering course have two important subjects. These are 1. Electronic Devices and Circuits 2. Network analysis (Electrical Circuit Analysis). The above two subjects are included in the first year engineering course. As far as Engineering is concerned there are eight subjects in first year. Out of all, the electronic subjects are completely new and students may feel little bit tough to get acquaintance with these subject. To succeed in the above mentioned subjects the approach towards the learning the concepts is different and should follow the following.

1. First revise the concepts what the students already studied in the SSC and Intermediate.
2. The contents in the theory subjects and in Laboratory experiments almost same. So it helps a lot to get good exposer in subjects.
3. Technical discussion with friends and senior students.
4. Huge amount of information available in the internet for quick reference.
5. Utilize sources of IIT Professor’s Lecture classes which are available in CD form.
6. Thorough preparation of the contents helps to reproduce information easily on answer sheets at the time of examination.
7. Practice number of assignments and work sheets.
8. Simulate the circuits by using P Spice software.
9. Curiosity to learn that develops creativity and asking more number of questions.
10. Make use of Laboratory manuals, Data Sheets.
11. Practice Electronic Hobby Kits which helps hands on experience and Trouble shooting.

To understand the concepts in EDC Subject – first refer the text book i.e., Electronic Devices and Circuits by R.L. Boylestad and Louis Nashelsky, – PHI edition and then for University examination point of view and competitive examination point of view refer the text book Electronic Devices and Circuits by J. Millman and C.C. Halkies – McGraw Hill edition.

To understand the concepts in Electrical circuits – first refer the text book i.e., Electrical Circuits by S. Sudhakar & P.S.M. Satyanarayana, – TMH edition and then for University examination point of view & competitive examination point of view refer the text book Engineering circuit analysis – by William Hayt and Jack E. Kimmerly, Mc Graw Hill Company, 6th edition.

Important topics normally examiners may prepare to set the Question Paper in EDC Subject:

1. Block Diagram of CRT and Deflection sensitivity.
2. Theory of electrical conductivity and the Semi conductors concepts.
3. P.N. Junction diode VI characteristics.
4. BJT and FET Characteristics.
5. Basic operation of Rectifiers and filters with mathematical Analysis.
6. Small signal Analysis – h Parameters for CE Amplifier.
7. Classification of Feed back Amplifiers.
8. RC and Wein bridge oscillators.

In Network theory the important topics are:

1. Relationship for passive elements.
2. Kirchoff’s Laws.
3. RMS and Average values for different types of Wave forms.
4. Resonance and relation between Star and Delta connections.
5. Nodal analysis.
6. Superposition, Thevinin’s and Norton’s theorems.
7. Z and Y parameters relation – Reciprocity condition.
8. RL and RC transient response
9. M – derived filters.

Most of the time should allot only for preparation of theory subjects by referring number of text books which are available in College Library. Few hours spend for practicals and design of Electron Hobby Kits. Terminology in Electronic subject not much difficult. Even though it is good to practices the definitions by referring the technical dictionary regularly.

To get good marks in University examinations students should attempt the topic (QUESTION ) in a division manner. It is divided in the following points. Definition, Circuit diagrams, Graphs, Mathematical equations, Brief theory. If the students attempt the question by explaining the above points then it is very easy to get good marks.

Practicing the model question papers enhances the confidence of the student because now-a-days most of the University question papers are framed from the old question papers only. In conclusion, it is utmost care and objective implementation that one may get degree in Electronics Engineering with high ambition.

AP Junior Intermediate Physics Study Plan

To secure cent percent marks in Inter First Year Physics, choosing of right questions and the learning process is important. To succeed in this mission one has to follow the following formulae.

SQ 6R FORMULAE

S = Select Q = Questions
R = Read
R = Re Read
R = Recite
R = Re think
R = Remembrance
R = Reproduce

1. According to above formulae, we have to choose Essay type questions (8 Marks) from Dynamics and Simple Harmonic Motion. For example, observe how can we verify the law of Conservation of energy in the case of vertically projected body, freely falling body and also learn the difference between them. To derive any equation or to verify any law in physics TRUMP CARD is usage of FIGURE. So, in above two cases observe figures and with the help of figures practice verifying the law of Conservation of energy. Similarly ascertain how can we produce equation for time period of simple pendulum, loaded spring and practice by knowing the differences, similarities between them.

2. Short answer questions (4 Marks) will be carried from Vectors, Kinematics, Centre of Mass, Friction, Rotatory Motion, Gravitation, Thermodynamics And Transmission of Heat.

3. Learn and practice by knowing the differences, similarities in deriving the formulas for Potential energy, Kinetic energy, work-energy theorem, elastic energy and surface energy.

4. Learn and practice by knowing the differences, similarities in showing the path of the oblique projectile and horizontal projectile is parabola.

5. Learn and practice by knowing the differences in deriving equations for escape velocity and orbital velocity also in the case of verifying perpendicular axis theorem and parallel axis theorem.

6. Learn and Remember parallelogram law, Triangle law, The law of Conservation of linear momentum, the law of Conservation of angular momentum, the law of Conservation of energy, Newton Universal Law of Gravitation, Hook’s law, Kirchoff’s law, Stephen’s law and Newton law of Cooling.

7. Very short answer questions (2 Marks) will be carried from Units & Dimensions, Vectors, Kinematics, Collisions, Friction, Elasticity, Surface Tension and Heat Chapters.

8. If you want to write definitions, Units and dimensional formulas of different physical quantities or solve problems most important tool is applying formula. So if formula is remembered four advantages are there.

9. Practice solved problems from the following topics:
– Power of the engine, power of the gun, power of the locomotive from Dynamics.
– Strain energy from Elasticity.
– Conversion of temperature, Boyles law, Charles law, efficiency of heat engine, Newton law of cooling from Heat.
