CSIR Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D in Engineering Admissions 2012-13

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi has announced an innovative Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D programme for Engineering Graduates for the academic year 2012-13. This is a Post Graduate Research Programme in Engineering (PGRPE) offered by CSIR laboratories located across the country. Duration of the programme is 5 years (2 Years for M.Tech and 3 Years for Ph.D). The programme is offered by Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) in the cutting-edge areas of technology. Following are number of seats in various laboratories, eligibility, selection and application procedure:

The selected candidates for Integrated M.Tech – Ph.D Programme will be trained on live projects. There are up to 140 positions. Out of these are 92 are for Trainee Scientists (TS) of CSIR. After completion of M.Tech, Trainee Scientists will be considered by CSIR for absorption as Scientists in Pay Band – 3 of the Govt. of India Scale Rs. 15600 – 39100 with GP of Rs. 6000. There are also some sponsored positions.

Eligibility for Admission: Applicants should be Engineering Graduates (Graduated in 2011/ Graduating in 2012) with minimum 70 percent marks or 7.0 CGPA are only eligible to apply. Age should be less than 28 years as on July 01, 2012. GATE qualification will be an added advantage. Candidates will be short listed based on the academic performance and interview. They will be intimated for Interviews at respective laboratories.

Trainee Scientists (TS) will get an emolument of approximately Rs.34650/- p.m. plus allowances. Sponsored Candidates will get Rs. 25000/- per month for first two years during their M.Tech programme. After that they can apply for Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) of CSIR.

CSIR-GATE Qualified JRF Program for Ph.D in Engineering 2012

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has announced notification the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) to GATE qualified Engineering Graduates to pursue Ph.D in Engineering. The Fellowship is introduced in 2002 for the GATE qualified candidates with BE / BTech/ BArch / B.Pharm degree. The programme is known as JRF-GATE. The selected candidates can work at CSIR laboratories under reputed scientists.

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants should be fresh BE / B Tech Degree holders with valid GATE score. The selected candidates should pursue Ph.D in the discipline of Engineering. They can get direct admission to Ph.D programme of University / IIT / NIT / REC etc. There are various other possibilities for pursuing research under this programme. The upper age limit for JRF – GATE 2012 shall be 28 years. Relaxation of 5 years is applicable for SC / ST / PH / OBC and Women candidates. Selected candidates will get a stipend of 16000/- plus HRA per month and contingency grant of Rs 20,000/- per annum. After the completion of two years, the fellowship may be upgraded to SRF-GATE and stipend will be increased to Rs 18000 per month.

Selection of GATE qualified JRF candidates can be done by the Director of the concerned CSIR laboratories and the same will be forwarded to Head, HRDG for the issue of award letters. JRF-GATE awarded candidates should register for Ph.D. programme within two years of joining. JRF – GATE candidates should not be deployed in any sponsored project.
