International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi issued notification for admission to Ph.D. Programme 2011-12. As per the notification, the ICGEB is inviting applications for the Ph.D. in two important streams, Plant Biology and Human Health. Followships offered through ICGEB are valid for four years. Following are details of eligibility, selection procedure and application process.
Eligibility: Applicants should have cleared any one of following national level examinations such as CSIR-UGC, ICMR, DBT, DST or any other equivalent JRF examination. They should have qualified for JRF. The salient feature of the program is candidates with professional degrees such as M.B.B.S./ M.Tech. are also eligible to apply if they have valid fellowships.
Interedted candidates can download application from www.icgeb.res.in/phd2011appformats.htm .Aplications have to be accompanied by JRF certificate and a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 300/- drawn in favour of ‘ICGEB, New Delhi’, payable at New Delhi and should be sent to ‘The Chief of Administration, ICGEB, Aruna Asaf Ali Marg, New Delhi – 110067’. Last date for receipt of filled in application forms is 30th April, 2011. Candidates must mention the choice of stream.
The Envelope of the application should be clearly marked with ‘Application for Ph.D. Programme – 2011-2012’ and also ‘The Choice of stream’ on it. Selection will be based on performance in written exam and interview. These will be held on 23rd May and 24th May, 2011 respectively.
Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) fellowship holders are exempted from appearing the written exam. But they have to apply along with other applicants / candidates as per the prescribed manner.
