JNU New Delhi Admissions Notification 2012-13 for M,A, M.Sc, M.Phil and Ph.D Courses

Jawaharlal Nehru University, most popular as JNU, New Delhi has announced admission notification 2012 for various Post Graduate, M.Phil and Ph.D. Programmes. JNU (www.jnuonline.in) is also offering UG Programmes (BA) in Languages. JNU is one of the internationally reputed educational and research institute in India. The university offer highly qualitative and rigorous programmes in the disciplines of Social Sciences, Arts, Humanities, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and other sciences. The JNU offer admission to candidates in various programmes under four categories. The University also offer direct Ph.D for those qualified in CSIR – UGC NET for JRF examination or any other equivalent examinations. The JNU conducts entrance examinations and interviews admission to various programmes. Apart from offline applications, JNU is also inviting online applications through www.jnuonline.in from this year. These details are mentioned below along with School wise courses, subjects, scheme of entrance exams, Previous question papers and application procedure:

Admissions under Category – A: JNU will conduct and entrance examination for these courses:

1. School of International Studies:

A) M.Phil / Ph.D: These Programmes are offered in the centers of Diplomacy and Disarmament, United States and Latin American Studies; International Politics, Political Geography; International Legal Studies; International Trade and Development; West Asian, North African and Sub- Saharan African Studies; International Organisation, South Asian, Central Asian, Southeast Asian and Southwest Pacific Studies; European Studies; Chinese, Japanese and Korean Studies; Canadian, and Russian and Central Asian studies.

B) M.A : Politics (with specialization in International Relations)
C) M.A.: Economics (with specialization in World Economy)

2. School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies:

A) M.Phil. / Ph.D.: In the subjects – Urdu, Hindi, German, French, Persian, Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Hindi Translation, English, Linguistics, Tamil, Japanese and Spanish.
B) M.Phil. in Portuguese
C) M.A: Chinese, German, Hindi, English, Arabic, Linguistics, Persian, Korean, Russian, French, Japanese, Spanish and Urdu.

Category B : Direct Admission to Ph.D. Programme:

JNU admits some students directly to Ph.D. programme on the basis of their performance in interview. Candidates will be short listed based on the merit in qualifying examination. Applicants with qualificatoins from reputed institutions will be preferred. There will be no entrance exam for this category admissions.

Category-C: JNU offer direct admission to JRF holders into M.Phil and Ph.D. Programmes in all subjects of the School of Sciences.

Category-D : JNU hold separate entrance exam for Part Time admissions

There is a good interaction among the aspiring students of JNU in last year’s post on JNU admissions. Interested candidates can obtain application form through post / by hand from the office of JNU.     • What is the course you are applying for? For PG Entrances, the syllabus will be from UG topics in the concerned subject. For Ph.D. programmes syllabus may consist of PG level topics in concerned subject / specialisation.

  5. bt can i get direct admission into PHD course..??? i mean i have jst completed my M.A. bt i hv nt done M.Phil or hv nt cleared NET/SLET…so m i eligible for direct PHD entrance..??

    • Direct admission is usually meant for the candidates who have qualified in UGC / CSIR JRF. Try to check with the concerned department as most of the times it will also depend on the discretion of the department concerned.

    • You can apply under regular admission mode and also through direct admission mode. You need apply in response to the advertisement / notification to be issued very soon.
