Education MIS in Tamil Nadu – New Websites for Schools Data

September 6: The Government of Tamil Nadu has come up with an initiative to integrate all the education information on a single platform. The Chief Minister of the State, Jayalalithaa has launched an Education Management Information System (EMIS) on 6th September 2012. The new portals www.tnschools.gov.in , ecs.tnschools.gov.in and admin.tnschools.gov.in have been started as part of this initiative by the School Education Department of Govt. of Tamil Nadu. www.tnschools.gov.in will be a common website for all the official education information of Tamil Nadu.

The EMIS will consist of a common web portal as mentioned above along with education content service, SMS-based attendance monitoring system and intra – departmental communication services
system. In the web portal www.tnschools.gov.in, all the details of primary, high, higher and secondary schools information will be provided.

The portal will also have details of headmasters, teachers, non-teaching staff along with number of students studying in all schools. You can also check pass percentage, exam details and other important information for all the schools in the state.

In the first phase of the project, details of schools in Tiruchendurai, Ettarai, Ayilapettai, Somarasampettai in Srirangam Constituency will be uploaded to the portal. The Government has also started a website www.ecs.tnschools.gov.in to help the students in studying and finding the syllabi. Anotehr website www.admin.tnschools.gov.in has been created for the purpose of communication between officials and school authorities.

  1. This website launched by the govt of Tamilnadu is quite useful not only to the education department but highly useful to the teaching fraternity,students as well. This initiative is highly commendable.
