IISc, IITs in Times Higher Education University Rankings 2016-17

Several Indian universities hava secured place in The Times Higher Education Supplement for the year 2016-17. The Indian Institute of Science (IISc – Bangalore) has secured the best position in Indian educational institutions.

IISc is in 27th position in Asian rankings. Out of the total 980 universities, Oxford University is on top. California and Stanford Universities are in second and third positions respectively.

Among Indian universities and educational institutions, following are the rankings:

Veltech University: 43
IIT Delhi: 54
IIT Madras: 62

Among the South Indian universities, following are in the top positions:

Sri Venkateswara University: 1

VIT University: 10

Top 10 Universities in India by Times Higher Education

Times Higher Education (THE), United Kingdom has released the list of top 10 institutions in India. The list includes IITs and some mainstream Universities. This is the first time that the THE released India specific top ranked institutions list. THE is an education supplement of London Times daily and known for credible rankings for educations institutions across the world.

Top 10 institutions in India as listed by Times Higher Education:

1. Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore
2. Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IITB)
3. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi
4. Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK)
5. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD)
6. University of Delhi, New Delhi
7. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM)
8. Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IITKgp)
9. Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh
10. University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad.
