IIM – CAT 2011 Results, Cut Offs, Percentiles, Seats Info

The much awaited CAT 2011 results are out. IIM Calcutta has announced CAT 2011 results on 11th January 2012. CAT 2011 results and score cards are available for download from https://weaiimcalcat.catiim.in/ or www.catiim.in. Candidates are requested to ensure that they have CAT registration data handy to retrieve their scorecard from the website. IIM Calcutta website is at www.iimcal.ac.in . Here we are providing approximate cut offs scores and percentiles for IIMs and other institutes which admit candidates through CAT 2011 scores. IIMs use their own selection procedure for short listing CAT qualified candidates. Candidates need the following data to get score card:

1) CAT Registration Number
2) E-mail address exactly as supplied during CAT registration. This should be as it appeared on the Admit card.

You may be asked further details to verify your identity before solving the problem. Following are approximate cut offs, last ranks or percentiles of CAT 2010:

There are a total of nine IIMs in the country. Estimated number of seats available in all IIMs is about 1200. Each IIM will have 120 seats in PGP in Management. Out of these total seats, 75 percent seats (900) may be available for General Category candidates and the remaining will be allotted for Reserved Category Students. Candidates need higher percentiles to get a seat in top ranked IIMs such as IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow.

Following are the details of IIMs and Cut Offs: 1) IIM Bangalore 2) IIM Ahmedabad 3) IIM Kozhikode 4) IIM Calcutta 5) IIM Lucknow 6) IIM Indore 7) IIM Ranchi 8. IIM Shillong 9) IIM Rohtak 10) IIM Raipur.

Following are probable cut off details for various IIMs. But one should remember that IIMs only short list candidates based on CAT for further selection processes like Group Discussions and Interviews. Here are probable cut offs:

1) IIM Ahmedabad (IIMA): Should have around 99.3 percentile overall .
2) IIM Bangalore (IIMB): Overall percentile should be aroung 95.
3) IIM Lucknow (IIML): Your percentile should be around 97.
4) IIM Calcutta (IIMC): You need to secure about 98.96 percentile.
5) IIM Indore (IIMI): Your percentile should be around 98.
6) IIM Shilong (IIMS): A overall percentile of 85 is required.
7) Other IIMs: Need about 80-85 percentile.

There are several other reputed institutes and B-School use CAT scores for admission to PGDM and MBA courses. Candidates should check the standards of these non IIM B-School / institutions before joining in any course in them.

CAT 2011 Notification, Applications, Selection Procedure, Test Pattern for IIMs and Non-IIMs

Common Admission Test (CAT) Notification 2011-2012 has been released. CAT 2011 is for admission into Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) in prestigious and most reputed B-Schools called IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management). PGPM offered by IIMs is equivalent to MBA. The CAT 2011 online examination will be conducted for 20 days from 22nd October 2011 to 18th November 2011. The CAT 2011 scores will be considered for admission into PGP in Management in IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Kozhicode, Udaipur, Thiruchirapalli, Raipur, Rohtak, Kashipur and RGIIM- Shillong. Along with PGP in Management, some IIMs also offer Fellow Programs based on CAT score. And there are Executive Development programs for working professionals in IIMs. CAT 2011 vouchers can be obtained from designated Axis Bank branches and other outlets across India from 17th August 2011 to 26th September 2011. Cost of application / voucher is Rs. 1600 (For SC, ST candidates Rs. 800). Apart from IIMs, there are so many reputed B-Schools and prestigious private Management Schools which consider CAT scores for admission into their management courses of various types. There is tough competition for seat in prestigious institutes as number of seats in IIMs are limited and cut offs also very high.

Educational Qualifications and Eligibility: The candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with at least 50 percent marks. Relaxation of 5 percent marks applies for reserved candidates. Candidates those who are appearing for the final year exams of degree in 2012 and those waiting for their results can also apply. All the IIMs have their own eligibility criteria apart from CAT score. They will use CAT scores for short-listing candidates for Group Discussions and Interviews. Candidates have to maintain a valid email account throughout the selection process for communication. CAT voucher must be bought only in the name of the candidate as it appears in SSC or 10th class certificate.

Application Procedure: After purchasing CAT 2011 voucher from designated Banks, candidates need to login to the website www.catiim.in and should watch the CAT 2011 video to understand the procedure. The registration process will be opened from 17th August 2011 and closes on 28 September 2011. Detailed process for registration will be available on the above mentioned CAT 2011 website.

CAT 2011 Test Pattern: The CAT Online test will be conducted in number of venues across the country. There have been changes in the CAT 2011 examination structure and question paper pattern. There will be only two sections instead of earlier three sections. All other details regarding new question paper pattern, application process, test structure, question paper structure, old CAT exam papers, bank branches, Online Test procedure, Programs available in IIMs and Non-IIMs and reporting for the test are available on IIMs websites along with www.catiim.in .
