CR Rao AIMSCS 10th Statistics Olympiad 2018

CR Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science (AIMSCS), University of Hyderabad Campus, Hyderabad has issued notification for 10th Statistics Olympiad 2018 as part of the celebrations of the 12th Statistics Day.

The written examination will be conducted on Sunday, 28th January 2018 between 9-30 AM to 12-30 PM in Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Kakinada, Mumbai, Guntur, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore and Sri Lanka Centers.

Eligibility Requirements:

Students should have Grade A or more than 80 percent in Maths in previous academic year (2016-17) in any board. The competition will be held in two levels.

Junior Level: For those studying Class IX and X (2017-18)
Senior Level: For those studying Class XI and XII and Degree first year (2017-18).

Registration Fee: Rs. 100
At each level, top 3 students will be given C R Rao and C Bhargavi Rao prizes of Rs. 10000, Rs. 7000 and Rs. 5000 on 29th June 2018 during Statistics Day.

Online registrations can be done through www.crraoaimscs.org on or before 8th January 2018. The question paper will be in English only. The test is in nature of a talent competition and so special knowledge of any particular syllabus is required.

IGNOU-UNESCO Science Olympiad 2011-Test Structure

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi (World’s largest open university) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), South Asia Office in New Delhi is organizing the Science Olympiad 2011. The program is meant for the South Asian Countries only. The main purpose of the Science Olympiad is to search for the students interested in sciences and motivate them to take up science as a career. The students from all SAARC countries can avail this opportunity.

This Olympiad will be conducted on a two-tier level. In the first level, an objective test will be conducted for all the candidates. Those short listed from objective test will be called for next phase. Students can participate in this Olympiad and prove their talent and capability in science subjects. Candidates will get certification from internationally renowned institutions.

Structure of the IGNOU – UNESCO Science Olympiad Test: This Science Olympiad will consist of two phases:

1. First Tier test: All the participants will be called for this tier test. They can choose the center of their choice to participate in the program. The Objective will consist of questions from Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Duration of the test is 3 hours. There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

2. Second Tier Test: About top 40 participants from the Tier 1 will be short listed for this tier. This Tier of the test will be conducted at Delhi. Only 40 meritorious students from all SAARC countries will be selected for this test. The test will be conducted to test the understanding and problem solving capability of the candidates. Each question may take about 5-10 minutes. Equal weightage will be given for Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Duration for this test is 3 hours. Test will be held at IGNOU, New Delhi.
