NAARM – ICAR SRF (PGS) for Ph.D. in Agriculture and Allied Sciences 2011-2012

National Academy of Agricultural Research Management (NAARM), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) is inviting applications for the grant of ICAR Senior Research Fellowship (PGS) 2011 for pursuing Ph.D. Degree in the field of Agriculture, Veterinary and allied Sciences. The selection of the candidates will be based on merit in All India level Entrance Examination to be conducted on 4th December 2011. Following are details of fellowships, eligibility and application procedure:

ICAR – SRF (Senior Research Fellowship): Eligibility: The applicants should have Master’s Degree in the concerned discipline. The fellowships are offered in the disciplines / subjects of Plant Sciences, Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Horticultural Sciences and Forestry, Plant Protection and Related Sciences, Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Dairy Science, Dairy Technology and Food Science, Agricultural Engineering Engineering / Process and Food Engineering, Home Science, Fisheries Science and Technology, Agricultural Economics, Statistics and Extension etc.

Interested candidates can download application forms from the websites www.naarm.ernet.in OR www.icar.org.in between 19th July 2011 to 16th August 2011. Filled in applications forms along with relevant copies of certificates and examination fee of Rs. 1200 for General Category / OBC and Rs. 600 for SC/ ST/ PH candidates , to the Controller of Examinations, NAARM, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad- 500407. Last date for the receipt of filled in applications is 30th August 2011.

Best CSIR Institutes for CSIR-UGC JRF Qualified Candidates and Prospects

The CSIR-UGC NET qualified candidate will have good career prospective after completion of his / her Ph.D. He can join as a postdoctoral fellow / research associate to carry further research. Apart from the fellowship (16,000+ HRA for JRF and 18,000+ HRA for SRF) the candidate also qualifies for lectureship (LS), which is mandatory to join in the universities as a Lecturer / Assistant Professor or to join as a scientist in the government funded research organizations. Apart from CSIR laboratories, you can also join in Central Universities and other state level reputed universities and research institutes for higher courses and research. The CSIR-UGC NET results are divided in to Three categories. These are CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF and LS which will be based on the performance in the examination. CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF fellows will receive their fellowship/ research grants from CSIR and UGC respectively. They can join in any laboratory or university based on their interest.

Another important feature of CSIR UGC NET is the top 10 percent of the CSIR-UGC NET qualified students will be invited / called for SPM fellowship (Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship) test once a year, normally in the month of July. The eligible candidates shall be called for interview by a panel of subject-experts for initial screening. The shortlisted candidates will be further interviewed by a panel of SPMF Core Committee members and subject committee chairmen for final selection of the candidates. This is a prestigious fellowship and the amount of fellowship is higher than CSIR – UGC JRF, that is 20, 000+ HRA for JRF and 24, 000+ HRA for SRF.
