NIFT Previous Papers, Programs and Online Application Procedure

The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is one of the premier fashion design and tech institutions in India. It was set up in 1986 by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. NIFT imparts general and niche courses related fashion designing and technology. Following are details of the programs offered by NIFT, eligibility requirements, model papers and admission procedure:

Bachelors Programs (B.DES.):
• AD- Accessory Design
• KD- Knitwear Design
• FC- Fashion Communication
• LD- Leather Design
• FD- Fashion Design
• TD- Textile Design
Duration: All the above are 4 year courses.

Masters Programs:
• M.DES – Master of Design
• MFM – Master of Fashion Management
• M F.TECH- Master of Fashion Technology
Duration: Duration of all the masters programs is 2 years

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B F Tech):
Duration of the course is 4 years. The aim of the course is to develop industry ready professionals.

Entrance Exam: NIFT conducts all India entrance exams for admission into all UG and PG programs. The test will consist of questions from Quantitative ability, communication ability, English comprehension, analytical and logical ability.

Previous Papers and Model Papers: Students can download previous papers and model papers for NIFT entrance exams from the institute’s website www.nift.ac.in . Interested candidates may apply online only through this portal for any program.

NIFT Admissions Announced for 2018-19 Apply Online by 29 December 2017

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), a premier institute for fashion design and technology courses has issued notification for admission into Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses for the academic year 2017-18. Following are important dates and schedule of the admissions.

UG Programmes / Masters Programmes: Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Communication, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Knitwear Design.

NIFT Campuses:

NIFT has 16 campuses across the country. The main campus in New Delhi was started in 1986. Campuses at Chennai, Gandhinagar, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai were established in 1995 and Bengaluru campus in 1997. New campuses in Bhopal, Bhubneshwar, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Patna, Raebareli and Shillong and at Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir are the latest to join the league of NIFT campuses.

Who are eligible?

Age should be below 23 years as on 1st October 2017. Candidates should have completed 10+2 from a recognised Board / University. For Masters programmes, candidates need UG degree / diploma of minimum three years from NIFT / NID.

Online Applications:

Interested candidates can apply online only through NIFT website at www.nift.ac.in . Application fee is Rs. 1500 for general and OBC candidates and Rs. 750 for SC / ST / PWD candidates.

Online Registrations: From 20th October 2017
Last date for online registrations: 29th December 2017
Last date with late fee of Rs 5000: 2nd January 2018
Editing application form: From 30th December 2017
Admit card (online only): 9th January 2017
Written exam for all UG and PG programmes: 21st January 2017
Result of written exam: February / March 2018
Situation Test / Group Discussion / Interviews: April – May 2018
Declaration of Final Result (Online): End of May / June 2018
Counselling: End of May / June 2018 onwards
