Changes in NEET 2017 – Only 3 Attempts and Upper Age Limit for Students

The UGC (University Grants Commission) has come up with a few changes in NEET 2017. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – 2017 (NEET) will be conducted on 7th May 2017 across the country for admission into MBBS course.

The important changes in NEET 2017 include cap on attempts. A student can take NEET for a maximum of three attempts to clear the entrance test. Another changes is upper age limit. The student above the age of 25 years will not be allowed to take NEET.

The Government is yet to release notification on the new changes. The age criteria has received mixed reaction from the parents. As per the new changes, a student is eligible for NEET at 17, after Class – XII and if that student makes continuous attempts, he or she would become ineligible for test after 20 years. There are demands for five attempts, at least.

The repeaters will be under the pressure of losing attempts if they could not clear the entrance examination. The Supreme Court has made it mandatory for all the institutions to grant admissions through NEET only. About 4 lakhs students are expected to take NEET this year, which is scheduled on 7th May 2017.
