IIT JAM 2011 Notification For M.Sc.-Ph.D.-Dual Degree Admissions

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee announced Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. – JAM 2011 for admission to M.Sc.- PhD, M.Sc. – PhD. Dual Degree and other Post – B.Sc. programmes at all IITs in the country. All these programmes in the IITs are designed with high quality curriculum and to peovide good opportunities to the students from different disciplines. All the programmes are inter-disciplinary oriented and updated to the industry requirements. Following are the test papers candidates have to appear for admission to relevant courses:

1. Biotechnology: M.Sc. Biotechnology (IIT- Bombay, Roorkee) / M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Biotechnology (IIT- Bombay) / M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering (IIT- Bombay)

7. Mathematical Statistics: M.Sc. Applied Statistics and Informatics (IIT- Bombay)/ M.Sc. Statistics (IITK)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Operations Research (IIT- Bombay).

8. Physics: M.Sc. Physics (IITB, IITD, IITG, IITH, IITK, IITM, IITR)/ Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D. Programme in Physics (IIT KHaragpur) / M.Sc. Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme in Physics (IIT- Bombay, Kanpur)/ M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme in Energy (IIT- Bombay) / M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science & Engineering (IIT- Bombay).

Eligibility: Bachelor’s Degree in concerned subject/ discipline is the general educational qualification. IITs follow their own eligibility requirements for various programmes. JAM scores will be used for screening of the candidates for admission to different programmes. Candidates can visit IITs websites or www.iitr.ac.in/jam for other details as IIT Roorkee is organizing the JAM 2011.

Important Dates:

1. Start of sale of Offline application: 22 Decemner 2010.
2. Commencement of Online application submission: 22nd December 2010
3. Last date for receipt of JAM 2011 applications at IIT Roorkee, Roorkee-247 667: 31st January , 2011
4. JAM 2011 Exam date: 8th May 2011.

L and T Build India Scholarships for M.Tech. in IITs

There are so many private corporate companies in India offering excellent higher education opportunities for talented and meritorious students. Larsen and Toubro Limited (L and T) is one of the best among them. L and T is a big private company with businesses in technology, engineering, construction and manufacturing areas. As part of encouraging talent and for its own man power requirements, L and T offer 40 scholarships each year to pursue M.Tech. in India’s premier technical institutes, IITs. These are named as ‘Build India Scholarships’.

Fresh Engineering Graduates (BE/ B.Tech) of Civil, Mechanical and Electrical branches are eligible to apply. The Scholarship is sponsored by ECC division of the company to study M.Tech (Construction Technology and Management) Course at IIT-Madras and IIT-Delhi. The Course structure, curriculum and teaching methodologies are designed by respective IIT’s in consultation with ECC.

L and T every year issues notification on leading newspapers about these scholarships. It also writes to more than 100 selective Engineering colleges inviting applications. The selection will be done jointly by IITs and L and T. The selection process includes a series of written tests, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. On the completion of the M.Tech., the selected candidates are offered job opportunities in the company.

The duration of the course is 2 years starting from July every year. Applicants should have 65 percent marks and their age should not be more than 23 years as on the prescribed date.
