CBSE Merit Scholarship Schemes 2011

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi has announced notification for the award various Merit Scholarship Schemes for the year 2011-2012. The CBSE is inviting applications for the following fellowships for 2011 batch of Class X and Class XII for the award of below mentioned Scholarship Schemes. The CBSE is also announced that the scholars of all the schemes, who have been granted scholarships by the CBSE Board in the previous years may also apply for renewal of their scholarships by 31st December 2011. Following are other details of scholarships and application procedure:

1) CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for + 2 studies.
2) Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students for 2011.

Eligibility: Applicants should be studying Class X and XII of CBSE for the award of these scholarships. The CBSE is an autonomous body functioning under the aegis of Ministry of Hyman Resource Development, Govt. of India. UGC Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child 2011-2013

University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has announced notification for Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child for academic session 2011-13. The UGC has introduced this scheme to promote girls education especially for such girls who happen to be the only girl child in their family. The scholarship supports post graduate education of single girl child. The scholarship applies to non-professional courses only. The Single Girl Child scholarship scheme is also intended to promote small family norm. Following are details of eligibility, amount of scholarship and application procedure:

Qualification and eligibility: Applicants should be a single girl child of her parents. The girl child will not be considered for scholarship if one son and one daughter is available in the family. The candidate should have taken admission in regular and full-time 1st year Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a PG college. Those studying first year course only eligible. Courses under distance / correspondence mode are not eligible. Girl students age should be below 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses.

The number of scholarships will be decided every year on the basis of eligible applications. The institutions will be directed by UGC not to collect tuition fees from the selected candidates. The amount of scholarship is Rs.2,000/- per month and will be for a period of two years only. This will be for full period of PG programme.
