Vacant Seats in IITs after JEE Counseling 2013

There are 207 vacant seats in IITs across the country after the completion of counseling process for JEE Advanced 2013 candidates. It is estimated that some seats in reputed institutions also remain vacant as on date.

There are 16 IITs in the country with 9885 seats in various branches and specialisations. The counseling process including the third phase has been completed on 15 July 2013.

Some seats are vacant in Indian School of Mines University (Dhanbad), IIT (BHU) etc. Seats are vacant in mining, metallurgy, architecture, geophysics, chemical engineering etc.

The IITs may display the vacancy position on the counseling website and IIT websites.

JEE Advanced – Category wise Engineering Seats in IITs, ISM and BHU Varanasi

IITs are the most prestigious engineering institutions in India. The institutions are ranked at top positions in various Independent surveys on Engineering education. Following are details of seats in various IITs and ISM and IT – BHU campus. The number of seats available for OC / General, OBC, SC, ST and PH categories are provided in the table given below. Candidates can assess the chances of getting the seat in IITs based on their ranks in IIT Advanced and previous year cut offs.

IITs conduct joint entrance examination (JEE) for admission to Graduate Engineering programmes. The JEE has been changed from 2013-14. The examination conducted for admission to IITs, ISM Dhanbad and IT – BHU Varanasi has been renamed as JEE Advanced. Candidates those qualified in JEE Main and secured place in top 20 percent candidates of the respective boards are eligible for JEE Advanced.
