SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) announces notification for admission to distance courses through School of Distance Learning (SDL) in various management programmes for January 2011 Batch. All the programmes are approved by Joint Committee of UGC- AICTE- DEC. Narsee Monjee Institute is one of the best B-Schools in the country. Following are details of programmes and application process:

Diploma Programmes (1 Year Duration): Applicants should have Bachelors Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline OR H.S.C plus 3 years Diploma recognized by AICTE OR S.S.C plus 3 years Diploma +
3 years work experience. Selection will be based on direct admission. Following are the Diploma Programmes:

1. Diploma in Business Management (DBM)
2. Diploma in Marketing Management (DMM)
3. Diploma in Marketing Management (DMM)
4. Diploma in Human Resources Management (DHRM)
5. Diploma in International Trade Management (DITM)
6. Diploma in Banking and Finance Management (DBFM)
7. Diploma in Supply Chain Management (DSCM)

Post Graduate Diploma Programmes (2 Years duration): Candidates should have Bachelors Degree (10+2+3) in any discipline with minimum 50 percent marks / Bachelors Degree (10+2+3) and minimum 2 years of work experience. Admission will be through direct admission.

2. Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management (PGDMM)
3. Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM)
4. Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM)

Course Fee: Rs. 26000 for Diploma programmes. For Post Graduate Diploma Programmes, first year fee is Rs. 26,000/- and second year fee is 24,000/-

Open University education system has been expanding on a rapid pace in India. There is growing number of specialized universities for open and correspondence education. Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is the leading Open University in the country. IGNOU offers more than 120 courses in various disciplines. The Governments at the Center and state levels also keen on establishing Open Universities. At present there are 14 open universities in the country.

B.R. Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad (BRAOU) is the first Open University in the country and IGNOU has been renowned as one of the largest open universities in the world. Courses are available from Certificate in Early Childhood Education to Doctorate in all major disciplines. All the open universities also offer professional courses like MBA, MCA, B.Ed. Healthcare Courses, Media and Communication etc. There is a long way to go in terms of quality of programmes offered by Open Universities in India.

Most of the open universities conduct entrance examinations for admission to UG, PG, and other higher level courses. Admission to Certificate, Diploma and PG Diploma courses will be through merit in the qualifying examination. All the open Universities have their own academic schedules.
