I am doing B.Sc. (microbiology, botany, chemistry). I wish to do PG and also research in Medical Microbiology. What are the best colleges for this course? How would be the career?

Medical microbiology is an important subject and in that case it is always better to do the course from some medical subject related institution like MAHE in Manipal may be better option as they have KMC medical college along with other subjects. AIIMS is also having numerous branches related to medical microbiology. Below some of the institutes offering this subject is listed:

ACBR-Delhi University M.Sc-Ph.D. Biomedical Admissions 2011-2012

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Center for Biomedical Research (ACBR) is offering excellent integrated research and post graduate courses for those interested in Biomedical Sciences. ACBR is a completely specialised and dedicated research center for Biomedical Science. The center is part of the reputed university in the country, Delhi University, New Delhi. The ACBR – University of Delhi is inviting applications for admission into M.Sc.; Combined M.Sc.- Ph.D. and Ph.D. Courses in Biomedical Sciences. All the following courses are offered in full time mode only. This center is equipped with reputed and full time faculty and state of the art laboratories. Selection of the candidates will be based on the performance in written examination and interview along with group discussion. Written exam consist of 200 multiple choice questions for 800 marks. The course will start from July 2011. Following are other details of the courses:

1. M.Sc. in Biomedical Sciences; Eligibility Requirements: Candidates should have Bachelors Degree in Biomedical or any other branch of Life Sciences / B.Pharm / MBBS/ B.V.Sc. with minimum 55 percent marks.
2. M.Sc.- Ph.D. Combined Degree in Biomedical Sciences; Eligibility: Same as above.
3. Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences; Eligibility Requirements: Applicants with Master’s Degree in relevant field of science with minimum 55 percent marks are eligible. Those having B.Tech./ MBBS with 70 percent marks also can apply.

There will be two sections in the written test. Part – I will consist of questions from reasoning, general knowledge, data interpretation and test of English language. Part- II consist of objective questions from Chemistry, Zoology, Biochemistry, Botany, Microbiology, Genetics, Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, Medicine, Immunology, Pharmacy and other allied sciences.

There are separate applications for each course. Application / Registration cost is Rs. 1000/- . Filled in forms should be sent to ‘The Director, Dr. B.R.
