Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University in Rae Bareli of Uttar Pradesh from 2017-18

Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University, first of its kind in the country will be inaugurated on August 18, 2017 at Rae Bareli by the Government of India. The University is aimed at facilitating and promoting aviation studies and research in India.

This is a Central university established as per the Act of Parliament. The foundation for the university was laid in 2013 during UPA Government as the Rae Bareli is represented by Sonia Gandhi.

Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University is situated in the extended campus of Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi (IGRUA) in Fursatganj area in 5 acres of area. This is the largest Aviation University in Asia.

Air vice-marshal (Retired) Nalin Tandon has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the university. The academic activity will commence soon at the University.

Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University will provide Under Graduate, Post graduate, Post Graduate Diploma and Research courses for the students. It will impart training in aerospace / rocket engineers, aspiring pilots, Aircraft Maintenance Technicians / engineers and cabin / ground crew.

All flying schools and colleges in India are expected to become affiliated and supervised by Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University. This university will act as apex body for Aviation education in the country.
