Indian Institute of Science B.S. Admissions 2011-15 Batch

The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore- a top class scientific institution for higher learning has started an innovative Undergraduate programme, Bachlor of Science (B.S.). IISc is internationally known for excellent quality in all aspects of education, training and research with strong focus on basic sciences and interdisciplinary approach. The Four Year B.S. Course has been designed in a way that suits industry requirements and will be treated as an equivalent to M.Sc. and PG programmes of international standard. B.S. will have 110 – 120 seats out of which reservations will be applied as per rules of the government. First batch of the B.S. programmes will start from 1st August 2011 and will be completed during July 2015. Following are details of eligibility, selection process and application procedure:

Eligibility: IISc admits students to B.S. course through various national level competitive examinations. It will not conduct any separate entrance examination. Following scores will be taken into consideration:

1. KVPY-SA-2009
2. KVPY-SB-2010
3. KVPY-SX (SB+2)-2010
4. IIT-JEE (2011)
5. AIEEE (2011)
6. AIPMT (2011)

Candidates must have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at +2 / Intermediate / Higher Secondary level. Selection of the candidates will be completely based on the scores achieved in above mentioned national entrance exams. Candidates will be short listed for each entrance exam separately. Students from rural background and women candidates will be encourages. Six major disciplines, i.e., Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Environmental Science and Materials will be offered in the course.

Application Procedure: Interested candidates can apply online or offline. Offline applications can be obtained through sending a request along with a DD for Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 for reserved candidates) drawn in favour of ‘Registrar, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore’ to the ‘Deputy Registrar (Academic), Admissions Unit, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore – 560 012’. The request also should include proper mailing address, preferably on stickers. Online applications will be open from 1st January 2011. Printed online applications should reach along with DD to the above address on or before 31st March 2011.

West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam – JEM 2011-12

Govt. of West Bengal has released notification of JEM – 2011, joint entrance examination to be conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Borad (WBJEEB) for admission to Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Medical, Dental and Pharmacy courses in Universities and Colleges in the state of West Bengal for the academic year 2011-12. Applications forms, information Brochure along with details available on the websites www.wbjeeb.in OR www.csc-ct.in OR www.banglarmukh.gov.in . Following are other details of the notification:

Eligibility: Applicants must have passed in HSC (10+2) with minimum 50 percent marks in Mathe, Chemistry, Physics and Biology and at least 30 percent in English. For MBBS, and BDS Courses candidates must secure 50 percent marks in Joint Entrance Examination, West Bengal. Those appearing in their last year of courses also eligible for the JEM 2011.

Following are the subjects to be appeared in JEM 2011 for admission to various courses:
1. Engineering and Technology/ B.Arch/ Dairy Technology/ agricultural Engineering/ Pharmacy: Should appear in Maths, Physics and Chemistry and need to apply form E.
2. Medical/ Dental/ Pharmacy: Should appear in Biological Sciences, Physics and Chemistry and need to fill up form M.
3. Engineering and Technology/ B.Arch/ Dairy Technology/ agricultural Engineering/ Pharmacy/ Medical/ Dental: Need to appear in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences and should apply form C.

Important Dates:

1. Sale of Application kit from listed UBI branches: 25-11-2010 to 31-12-2010
2. Last date for receipt of request for applications by post: 15-12-2010
3. Last date for receipt of filled in applications by speed post only: 12-01-2011.
