MBA CFA in India – Course and Career

A student of Sciences asked… ‘I am often hearing about MBA CFA programme. What is this CFA programme? If we join the dual programme, is it helpful for our future. Please give details about MBA CFA course. By joining this programme can we get good job and good salary in future?’

Here is the answer to this doubt: The Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) program is offered world-wide by the CFA Institute, Virginia, USA. The CFA charter is the designation one can earn after successful completion of the CFA Program. It is a self-study program of three years duration and includes three levels of examinations.
In India, the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, Tripura is mandated to give CFA charter. The university also offers MBA-CFA dual masters degree program. It consists of two streams viz., MBA and CFA. The MBA stream is designed to provide both a portfolio of strong functional skills and the ability to apply, adapt, synthesize and integrate those skills into different management settings. The CFA stream provides an in-depth understanding of financial analysis. The knowledge of which can be applied in banking and financial services sector and practice areas like strategic finance, mergers and acquisitions, risk management and consulting.

Through the Dual Masters Program, the students may acquire two career-oriented professional qualifications in management and financial analysis and also save precious time. Instead of the normal duration of 4 years (two years for MBA and two years for CFA) the students of the Dual Masters Program may complete the same in 27 months. Bachelor’s degree in English medium (any discipline) with 55 percent and above aggregate marks are eligible to register for this course. CAs / CWAs (with a bachelor degree) are also eligible to apply and they also get waivers in some subjects.
