My son is studying in one of the schools in Bangalore in VIII standard.But the school is very much into academics and not much on sports.My son is little overweight and getting health issues with very less physical activities.I came to know in KV the preference is given to sports and as well to academics. The child should have 5 years to get admission into Class 1. So, your elder daughter will not be eligible for admission due to shortage of age as per KV guidelines. She may be eligible for the academic year 2019-20. Also see the KV age chart in one of our posts.

Yes, civilians are eligible for admission into KVs. But chances depends on the competition for the KV concerned. Regarding age criteria, you can check the details in another post on this site (you can also see the link at the right). We have given age criteria for all the classes. It is applicable for all the KVs across the country.
