ISRO – YUVIKA Young Scientist Program – Selection and Eligibility Details

ISRO – Indian Space Research Organisation has announced YUva VIgyani KAryakram (YUVIKA) program for the school children across the country. This is part of Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan program of Government of India. School children will be exposed to space technology and will be imparted basic knowledge on space science as part of YUVIKA.

Durtion: Two weeks during summer holidays. The program may be conducted in the second half of May 2019. The program includes talks by scientists, lab visits, discussions, practical sessions etc.

Number of Students:

3 students from each state / UT will be selected. These three will be selected as one each from CBSE / ICSE and State Syllabus.

Selection Procedure:

Selection of students for YUVIKA scheme will be based on the following criteria:

1) 8th Std Examination marks / grade: 50 percent

2) Membership of Science Club / Space Club: 5 percent

3) Prize in any school based individual extracurricular activity (Elocution / Debate / Essay Writing, science quiz, computer modeling, scientific prototype model making, etc.,) at District / State / National/ International Level (The higher level will be considered for weightage): 10 percent

4) Winners of District / State / National / International Level sports activities (The higher level will be considered for weightage): 10 percent

5) Scout and Guides / NCC / NSS Member: 5 percent
6) Studying in Village / Rural School: 20 percent

ISRO will display the selected candidates list on its website. Students have to submit all the proofs after provisional selection. YUVIKA is planned at 4 ISRO centers in the country. Selected candidates will be provided with all the facilities like accommodation, travel expenses, material, lodging and boarding etc.
