Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has announced notification for admission to Inter-disciplinary Master’s Programmes for the year 2012-14. TISS has campuses at Mumbai, Guwahati, Tuljapur and Hyderabad. The programmes on offer are MA Rural Development and Governance, MA Ecology, Environment and Sustainable Development, MA Social Work and Master of Library and Information Science. Eligibility: Applicants should have Bachelors degree in any discipline with minimum of 3 years duration in 10+2+3 pattern. TISS is also providing campus placements for meritorious candidates. Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai has announced admission notification 2012 for Integrated M.Phil – Ph.D and Direct Ph.D programmes for the academic year 2012-13. Candidates who have qualified in UGC JRF, Post Graduates and students in Final year of their post graduation in Social Sciences and allied subjects can apply. Individuals with M.Phil and / or industrial, academic and field based experience in Social Sciences, Social work and related fields are also encouraged to apply. TISS is one of the best institute for research and training in Social Sciences, Social Work and allied disciplines. TISS also has a center at Hyderabad. Here are other details:

Following are the areas of research for Integrated M.Phil – Ph.D. programme and Direct Ph.D. programme: 1) Media and Cultural Studies 2) Womens’ Studies 3) Habitat Studies 4) Disaster Management 5) Management and Labour Studies 6) Social Sciences 7) Health Systems Studies 8) Education 9) Social Work 10) Development Studies 11) Library Sciences.

Duration of Integrated M. Phil – Ph. D. programme is five years and this is a full time programme. For M. Phil in subjects like Education, Women’s Studies and Development Studies candidates have to undergo a subject specific M. Phil. Programme of four semesters. All other candidates will have to undergo a common course work in Research Methodology. Ph.D. programme can be pursued from any of the TISS campuses.
