Sri Ram College-100 Percent Cut Off for B.Com Admissions- Discuss

Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi University (DU) is one of the leading and most prestigious college for Commerce education in the country. The SRCC has been in news for its tough cut offs for admission into B.Com (Honors) course for the academic year 2011-2012. You must have secured ‘at least 100 percent’ marks in your +2 / Intermediate education to expect a seat in B.Com (Honors) course in SRCC, Delhi University. There has been so much discussion on the 100 percent cut off on national television channels and dailies through out the week. The HRD Minister, Kapil Sibal himself opined that 100 percent cut off is irrational. Then what do you think of these developments?

There are about 50 colleges functioning under the purview of Delhi University. Other reputed colleges also likely to follow cut offs decided by SRCC. There is widespread dissatisfaction among students and their parents over these cut offs. Increasing employment opportunities for Commerce graduates has also triggered the cut offs to reach maximum levels. There is growing awareness among the students and their parents on the potentiality of Commerce as a career option.

In this context, you can express your opinion on the SRCC cut offs for B.Com (Honors). Some experts are feeling that it is unfair and injustice to the meritorious and talented students who have secured just below 100 percent marks. Another opinion popping up in this context is the necessity of formulation of level playing field for all the students as followed by IITs, IIMs, NITs etc for admissions.

After hearing all these, what do you think of the trend? Do you think 100 percent cut off is really a problem and doing injustice to number of talented students? If yes, how to find a solution? Introducing an Entrance Test like IIT JEE, CAT, AIEEE will solve the problem? Express yourself…!
