5800 more MBBS seats in Government Medical Colleges

The government of India is mulling to increase the MBBS seats enormously to meet the demand from the aspiring students. The central government is proposed to increase 5800 seats along with setting up 58 new medical colleges across the country.

At present there are more than 422 medical colleges across the country. Out of these, 200 colleges are in Government control and remaining 222 are private medical colleges.

The new medical colleges will be established with central and state government collaboration. The government is also planning to meet the doctor and patient ratio of WHO.

The Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states may get 6 new medical colleges if the government proposals are accepted by the medical council of India.
