IIT Bombay M.Tech., Dual Degree and M.Phil Admissions 2013

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay is inviting online applications from eligible candidates for admission into Post Graduation and Ph.D programmes in various subjects for the academic session 2013 – 2014. The selection will be made through interview based on merit in GATE / NET / NBHM / DBT / DST score.

Courses are offered in are of Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Earth Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science (MM), Electrical Engineering, Cross Departmental Programme- Materials, Center of Studies in Resources Engineering, Department of Bio-sciences and Bioengineering, Manufacturing and Modeling (MMM), Energy Science and Engineering, Systems and Control Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, Centre For Technology Alternatives For Rural Areas(CTARA) (Technology And Development)

1. M.Tech. programme.
Qualification : BE / B.Tech / B.Sc (Engineering) / M.Sc / MCA / MBBS / M.Pharm / B.Pharm / BDS in relevant discipline with GATE score.
Duration of programme : Two years.

2. M.Tech. and Ph.D. (Dual Degree)
Ph.D Progremme (Engineering / Technolog, Humanities and Social Sciences, Physics, Chemistry and Life Science).
Qualification : M.Tech / ME / M.Phil / BE / B.Tech. / PG with GATE / UGC / CSIR NET score.
Duration of programme : Three years.

3. M.Phil (Planing and Development)
Qualification : Post Graduation in Arts / Commerce with minimum 55 percent marks.
Duration of course : Two years.

Application procedure : Candidates are required to apply online through website : www.iitb.ac.in for M.Tech and Ph.D programme and send their application in the prescribed format (available on website) for M.Phil programme.

Important dates : Closing date for the submission of online application for M.Tech. programme is 2nd April, 2013. Closing date for the submission of online application for Ph.D programme is 3rd April, 2013. Last date for the receipt of completed application form for M.Phil programme is 10th May, 2013.

Class II – PUC Biology Paper Leak in Karnataka – No Re-exam

Bangalore, March 2013: The Government of Karnataka has clarified that the state government has no plans to conduct re-exams for Class – II (PUC) biology subject. The Primary and Secondary Education minister Visvesvara Hegde Kageri informed that the Government has no proposal to conduct re-examination.

He also said that the investigation is under progress on the Tumkur issue (rumours of paper leak) and the police have already arrested as part of the investigation.

The State Government of Karnataka has also issued a circular to Block Education Officers (BEOs) to set up two flying squads in their respective taluks to supervise the examinations. The squads will consists of officials from education and police department. A videographer also follow them to keep vigil on the nearby xerox centers, cyber cafes and tuition centers.

The state government is also contemplating to enforce Goonda Act against those involved in paper leaks. The Government has also set up a helpline to receive suggestions from the students and parents.
