The Government of Uttar Pradesh is on the way to materialize Laptops to Inter Students Scheme this year. UP Electronics Corporation Limited (UPECL) is acting as a nodal agency for the procurement of laptops. The much popularized laptop scheme among UP students is a poll promise given by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.
The implementation of the scheme seems to be delayed due to unavailability of bids from companies. The Government is thinking of implementing Tablets scheme for 10th class passed students after the distribution of laptops to Inter students.
The bid process was attended by reputed companies such as Intel, Acer, Lenovo, Wipro and Microsoft and they have suggested some changes in the tender guidelines. They have also requested some more time to get the sample of the Laptop.
