The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched UDAAN Scheme for girl students across the country to encourage them to take up engineering courses in prestigious institutions in India. UDAAN prepares the student to compete for the entrance examinations such as JEE Advanced and JEE Main etc.
Salient Features of UDAAN Scheme:
1) CBSE will offer free of cost support to Girl students of Classes XI and XII to prepare for engineering entrance examinations in India.
2) Tutorials, videos and study material will be available for the students. Virtual contact classes at 60 designated city centres will be organised by CBSE.
3) There will be remedial steps to correct learning along with mentoring opportunities for meritorious students. There will also be student helpline services to clarify doubts, monitor student learning and support technology.
Eligibility for UDAAN Scheme:
All girl students studying in classes XI of KVs (Kendriya Vidyalayas / NVs (navodaya Vidyalayas)/ Government Schools of any recognised Board/ CBSE affiliated private schools in India are eligible to apply. Students of Class XI in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (PCM) stream only eligible.
Girl students should have secured at least 70 percent marks in Class X overall and 80 percent marks in Science and Mathematics OR a minimum CGPA of 8 and a GPA of 9 in Science and Mathematics.
Selection Procedure:
The selection of the students under UDAAN scheme will be based on merit and will be considered against the city chosen by the candidate for the weekly virtual contact classes. Annual family income of the student should be less than 6 lakhs.
