Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology Ph.D.Admissions January 2012

Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology (RGCB), Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) issued admission notification for Ph.D. programme in Human, Animal and Plant Disease. RGCB is an autonomous National Institute functioning under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. Following are details of programme, eligibility, selection and application procedure:

Qualification: Applicants should be Post Graduates in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. The degrees will be awarded by University of Kerala as RGCB is affiliated to that Univrsity. General category applicants should have First Class or above marks throughout career along with a valid Research Fellowship from UGC/ CSIR/ ICMR/ DBT or Eligibility for DST-INSPIRE. Age should be less than 28 years as on 1st January 2012. SC and ST candidates need to have only 50 percent marks. External candidates with valid fellowships are also eligible to apply.

Interested candidates can download application forms from the institute website at www.rgcb.res.in . Last date for the receipt of completed applications is 31st October 2011. Selection will be based on Interviews, short-listing of the candidates, student- faculty interaction and selection. All these will be conducted during November 28th to December 2, 2011. Names of short listed candidates will be displayed on the RGCB website on 4th November 2011.

CSIR-NCL Pune Ph.D Admissions – January 2012 Session

National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) is inviting applications for admission into Ph.D. Programme for January 2012 Session in the disciplines of Chemical, Biological and Physical Sciences and Engineering. NCL is a constituent research laboratory of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and engaged in world class research in the disciplines of chemical and related sciences. The Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) of NCL is offering research opportunities in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry, Materials Chemistry and Physics, Physical Chemistry, Materials for Solar Energy, Nanomaterials, Advanced Functional Materials, Polymer Science and Engineering, Homogeneous and Heterogeneous Catalysis, Green Chemistry, Molecular biology, Structural biology, Biochemistry, Plant Tissue Culture, Organic Chemistry, Proteomics, Chemical Engineering, etc. Following are details of eligibilitly and application procedure:

Eligibility Requirements: Applicants should have qualified in DBT/ ICMR/ UGC/ BINC/ DST-INSPIRE JRF / CSIR or any other equivalent research fellowship programme. Admission will be through an initial screening of the applications and personal interview. The number of students to be selected in the disciplines of Chemical, Biological, Physical and Engineering sciences will depend on the vacancies available in the concerned discipline.
