IIT JEE is the most prestigious engineering entrance examination in India. Admission into BE / B.Tech in world famous IITs will be done through IIT JEE. Notification for IIT JEE 2012 has been announced. Following will give you an understanding of seats available for candidates from different categories along with estimated competition for IIT JEE 2012. There are 9618 seats in various IITs (7 old IITs 8 new IITs) across the country along with IT – BHU and IMS Dhanbad. About 4.8 lakh candidates appeared for IIT JEE 2011. About 52000 candidates were attended for IIT JEE 2011 from Andhra Pradesh. Out of these about 2400 candidates got seats in various IITs. At the all India level, competition for a seat is at the ratio of 1:50. But in Andhra Pradesh, the seat and candidates ratio is 1:22.

Category wise seats available in IITs located at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT – BHU Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, IIT Ropar and IIT Rajasthan. Details such as branch wise seats, IIT JEE 2011 cut offs, seats, last ranks etc. will be very much useful for aspirants of IIT JEE 2012.
