IIT JEE 2012- Number of Seats for Various Categories in IITs

IIT JEE is the most prestigious engineering entrance examination in India. Admission into BE / B.Tech in world famous IITs will be done through IIT JEE. Notification for IIT JEE 2012 has been announced. Following will give you an understanding of seats available for candidates from different categories along with estimated competition for IIT JEE 2012. There are 9618 seats in various IITs (7 old IITs 8 new IITs) across the country along with IT – BHU and IMS Dhanbad. About 4.8 lakh candidates appeared for IIT JEE 2011. About 52000 candidates were attended for IIT JEE 2011 from Andhra Pradesh. Out of these about 2400 candidates got seats in various IITs. At the all India level, competition for a seat is at the ratio of 1:50. But in Andhra Pradesh, the seat and candidates ratio is 1:22.

Following are details of seats in various IITs. Category wise seats available in IITs located at IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee, IIT – BHU Varanasi, ISM Dhanbad, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Mandi, IIT Patna, IIT Ropar and IIT Rajasthan. Details such as branch wise seats, IIT JEE 2011 cut offs, seats, last ranks etc. will be very much useful for aspirants of IIT JEE 2012. IIT JEE 2012 Notification, Seats, Key, Results and Counseling Info

Indian Institute of Technology has announced schedule of Joint Entrance Examination 2012 (IIT JEE 2012). The IIT JEE 2012 will be held on 8th April 2012 as per the schedule given below. Paper-I will be held at 9 AM – 12 PM and Paper-II will be conducted at 14 PM – 17 PM. Both the papers will be in objective type and will test the comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates. Following are details of IIT JEE 2012 notification, application process, exam pattern, key, results, cut offs, last ranks and counseling schedule:

Admission into Engineering and Architecture Graduate courses in Indian Institutes of Technology for 2012-13 will be based on IITJEE 2012. Previous question papers of IIT JEE will be available on IIT websites along with key and answers. Admission into BE / B.Tech and other UG programmes in IITs located at Bhubaneswar, Gandhinagar, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi, Bombay, Delhi, Patna, Rajasthan, Roorkee, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Ropar, IT-BHU and ISM- Dhanbad will be based on ranks in JEE 2012.

1) Commencement of Online Application Process: 31st October– 10th December 2011
2) Start of sale of Offline Applications: 11th November– 5th December 2011
3) Last date for the receipt of filled in application forms (offline and printed copies of online applications): 15th December 2011
4) IIT JEE 2012 Results: May 2012 (Tentative).
