NTPC Scholarships for Engineering and Management

National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, a PSU of Government of India offering Scholarships for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe / Physically Handicapped students pursuing Full-Time Engineering Courses (BE / B.Tech) in Electrical / Mechanical / Instrumentation / Electronics / Civil branches. This scholarship will be awarded for those in the third year of their courses only. Candidates those who have successfully completed the 1st year and 2nd year in the first attempt only need to apply. There are 35 (SC- 20, ST- 10, PH-5) scholarships in total for all the above mentioned categories.

Candidates should not be receiving any other scholarhisps. The amount of the scholarship is Rs. 1500 per month. Eligible candidates have to apply in the prescribed format of application available on the website of NTPC. Applications should carry all the supporting documents from head of the educational institution. The duly filled in application form should be sent to ‘Dy General Manager. (HR), NTPC Ltd., NTPC Bhawan, Scope Complex, Core – 7, Lodi Road, New Delhi – 110 003.

Notification for the above scholarship for the year 2010-11 has been released. You can download application and prescribed caste certificate from the official website. Interested candidates can access all the information from www.ntpc.co.in . Last date for receipt of filled in forms is 22 November 2010.

Apart from Engineering courses, NTPC offering scholarships for above category students to pursue full time MBA and PGDBM courses as well. Candidates who have got admission in Human Resource Management / Finance Management specializations from specified institutions shall be eligible to apply for the NTPC Scholarships. The amount of scholarship for these courses shall be Rs.1500/- per month per student and will be disbursed for a maximum period of 2 years. The scheme shall commence for eligible students pursuing their second year studies in MBA / PGDBM in the academic year 2010-11.

DST Scholarships for Women Candidates

The Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India has introduced a new scholarship programme for women. This scholarship is for training in the area of Intellectual Property Rights. Under this scheme, Postgraduates and Ph.D. degree holders (women candidates only) will be given a stipend of Rs.10,000 and Rs.15,000 per month respectively. Candidates will have to qualify in an entrance test and an interview to be selected for this scholarship. Selected candidates should go through an orientation programme for one month.

Apart from this, there are other scholarships for Women candidates to encourage them to pursue research in advanced areas of Sciences and Engineering. The selected candidates under this scheme will get upto Rs. 20,000/- per month as Research Scholarship. Following are categories in which scholarships will be awarded:

1. Scholarship for Research in Basic OR Applied Science (WOS-A)
2. Scholarship for Research in S&T – based Societal Programs (WOS-B)
3. Internship for the Self-Employment (WOS-C)

Women candidates with M.Sc. or Ph.D. in physical / chemical / life sciences or B.Tech./ B.E. or M.Tech, MBBS, MS, MD, M.V.Sc, and M.Pharm. Candidates are also eligible to apply for all these scholarships. Notifications for these scholarships will be announced in leading dailies and also displayed on DST website dst.gov.in .
