NBHM Scholarships for Ph.D. in Mathematics 2010-11

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India inviting applications for the grant of scholarships for pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics for those joined in the year 2010-11. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in higher studies with fellowships from a reputable institute. Candidates must have motivation and aptitude for research in Mathematics. They should have consistent academic record from +2 level to the present degree. Following are other details:

Essential Eligibility: Applicants must have B.A./ B.Sc./ B.Tech. / B.E./ M.A./ M.Sc. degree Or they must be pursuing final year of the course. Those studied B.Sc. (Honors) and passed with second class marks also eligible to apply. First class marks in all stages of education is essential requirement. The students must have enrolled in Ph.D. Course of the any recognized institution.

Selected candidates will get scholarship amount of Rs. 12,000/- per month for the initial two years and and shall receive Rs 14,000/- per month for subsequent years. They shall also get a contingency grant of Rs. 15,000/- per year along with all permissible allowances. The scholarships durations is normally for a total period of four years an can be enhanced in exceptional cases.

Selection will be made through a written test consist of questions on topics normally covered in Master’s degree programmes in Mathematics. The test will be for two and half hours and involves questions with short answers. Old / Model Question papers are available on the NBHM website www.nbhm.dae.gov.in . The written test will be conducted on 22rd January 2011. Those short listed in Written exam will be called for interview. The candidates who like to join in Ph. D. programmes in the Institute of Mathematical Sciences (IMSc), Chennai and the Harish-Chandra Research Institute (HRI), Allahabad are required to appear for this written test.

IOC Scholarships for B.Tech, MBA, MBBS, ITI

Indian Oil Corporation Limited is a premier government owned corporate oil company in India. As part of its social responsibility, IOC offers scholarships for Engineering, management, Medicine and ITI Diploma / Degree holders. The company announces notification for Academic Scholarships for the year 2010 – 2011. These scholarships are allocated for students of 10 + / ITI, Engineering, MBBS and MBA Courses.

Total number of scholarships is 2600 (Earlier it was 450 only). These will be distributed among all the eligible courses and students. Candidates pursuing full time courses in the above disciplines are eligible to apply. Applicant’s age should be between 15 – 30 years as on the stipulated date in the original notification released from time to time.

1. 10 + / ITI: Duration of the scholarships is 2 years; Number of Scholarshis: 2000; Qualification: 10th Class; Scholarship amount: Rs. 1000 per month.

2. Engineering: Duration of the scholarships is 4 years; Number of Scholarshis: 300; Qualification: 12th Class; Scholarship amount: Rs. 2000 per month.

3. MBBS: Duration of the scholarships is 4 years; Number of Scholarshis: 200; Qualification: 12th Class; Scholarship amount: Rs. 2000 per month.

4. MBA: Duration of the scholarships is 2 years; Number of Scholarshis: 100; Qualification: Any Graduation; Scholarship amount: Rs. 2000 per month.

The performance of the scholar must be satisfactory throughout the course and IOC shall discontinue the scholarship if found the student is not promoted to the next academic year / semester.
