KVPY- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship Scheme 2011-12

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship (KVPY) Scheme for 2011-12 has been announced. These are highly prestigious fellowships awarded for Basic Science, Engineering and Medical students. There are various categories under this scheme. Monthly Fellowship under this scheme will be from Rs. 4000 to Rs. 7000 based on the course / stream. There will be a annual grant of Rs. 16000 to Rs. 28000. Following are these details of categories of fellowships and application procedure:

1. Basic Sciences:

A) SA and SP (After X Class)
B) SB and SP: During B.Sc./ B.S. and 1st to 3rd years of Integrated M.Sc.
C) SB and SP: During M.Sc./ M.S and 4th and 5th years of Integrated M.Sc.

2. SP (Basic Science / Engineering students):

A) 1st, 2nd and 3rd year
B) During Subsequent Years

3. SP (Medicine)

A) 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year
B) During Subsequent Years

Eligibility for various streams:

Basic Sciences:

Stream SA: Applicants should have enrolled in the XI Standard (in Science Subjects) during the academic year 2011-2012. They must have secured a minimum of 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SX: Candidates shold have enrolled in Class 12 (+2) of the academic year 2011 – 2012. They will be joining in undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/B.S./Int. M.Sc) for the session 2012 – 2013 and secured a minimum of 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Mathematics and Science subjects in the X Standard Board Examination.

Stream SB: Students enrolled in 1st year B. Sc./ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc. during the academic year 2011–2012. They should have secured a minimum of 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ST students) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII Standard Board Examination.

SP (Basic Sciences): Candidates should have enrolled in XI / XII standard, I / II year (B.Sc../B.S./Integrated M.Sc.) in Basic Sciences and I / II year B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. during the academic year 2011–2012. They should have secured a minimum of 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ ST candidates) marks in aggregate in the X and XII Standard Board Examinations. Additionally those students enrolled in the II year B.Sc./ B.S./ Integrated M.Sc/ B.E./ B.Tech./ B.Arch. program must have secured a minimum of 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ ST candidates) marks in the I year examination. A hard copy Science based research project done by the candidate has to be submitted along with the application.

Stream SP (Medicine): Those students joining First / Second Professional year of MBBS / B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma program during the academic year 2011-2012 are eligible. They must have passed XII Standard Board Examination with 80 percent (70 percent for SC/ST candidates) marks in aggregate in Science subjects or passed First Professional MBBS/ B.V.Sc/ BDS/ B.Pharma exam with not less than 60 percent (50 percent for SC/ST) marks. 20000 Scholarships for Minority Students – MoMA e-Scholarship Scheme 2011

Ministry of Minority Affairs (MoMA), Govt. of India is offering 20000 scholarships (e-scholarship) minority candidates pursuing various courses across the country. The total number of scholarships have been distributed to all the states and union territories. The objective of the Scholarship Scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor, disadvantaged and meritorious students belonging to the minority communities in order to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses. These scholarships are available for education in India only. The Scholarship Scheme will be implemented by respective State Governments and Union Territory Administrations. The will receive 100 percent central assistance from Government of India.

20000 scholarships will be distributed every year under E-Scholarship (Minority Welfare Scholarship System). The number of scholarships for various states and UTs are allotted based on the population of students of minority communities. Buddhist, Christian, Muslim, Parsi, Sikh and other minority communities are eligible under this scheme. Following is the state wise distribution of scholarships:

Value of Scholarship: For hostelers, a total of Rs.30,000/- per year and Rs.25,000/- per year for Day Scholars.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates should have got admission in a technical / professional courses in a recognised college / institute. These scholarship holders are not allowed to receive any other scholarship / stipend. Annual family income of the parent or guardian of the student should be below Rs.2.50 lakh per annum.

Application Procedure: Students have to apply in the prescribed form (separate application forms are prescribed for fresh and renewal of scholarship by the concerned States/ UTs. Candidates have to apply online through MoMA website momascholarship.gov.in . Applications should be filled with the complete details of where the students are pursuing technical / professional courses. The student must submit their applications to the Secretary of the department of the concerned State Govt/ UT administration, dealing with minority welfare, through the respective institutions.
