UGC Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses 2010-2011

University Grants Commission (UGC) New Delhi has issued notification for the grant of Post Graduate Scholarships for Professional Courses for SC/ST Candidates for the year 2010-2011. The UGC has introduced this scheme for the benefit of the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to pursue postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects such as Engineering and Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. in any recognised Indian Universities / Institutions / Colleges. Following are details such as number of scholarships, financial assistance and application procedure:

There are 1000 scholarships to SC/ST candidates to pursue PG Courses in Professional subjects mentioned above. The selected candidates will receive Rs. 5000 per month as scholarship for ME / M.Tech Courses and Rs. 3000 for other professional courses. Duration of the fellowship is depends on the nature and duration of the course.

Eligibility requirements: The applicants should have Graduate Degree in the relevant subject / discipline and should have obtained admission at Post Graduate level programme in regular full time course. Those pursuing Post Graduate course in professional subjects by correspondence / distance mode are not eligible. Age should be below 45 years as on 1st July on the year of application. Relaxations apply as per rules.

DST-RJVSF – Rajat Jayanti Vigyan Sancharak Fellowships 2011

Department of Science and Technology (DST), National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) of Govt. of India has announced Rajat Jayanti Vigyan Sancharak Fellowship 2011-12 (RJVSF). Applications are invited by the above institution for the grant of Rajat Jayanti Vigyan Sancharak Fellowships. The RJVSF fellowship scheme recognizes Science Communicators with consistent and brilliant academic record. The fellowship supports innovative work in selected scientific institutions, universities and also Science and Technology based voluntary organizations. Following are other details of the RJVSF 2011-12.

Rajat Jayanti Vigyan Sancharak Fellowship: 20 Fellowships. These are full time fellowships and those selected for the fellowships cannot be taken up with any other assignment. The candidates age should be below 35 years as on 31st December 2011. Age is relaxable by five years for women candidates. Candidates should possess a Graduation or Higher degree in the disciplines of Science, Engineering, Medical Science, Agriculture, Information Technology, Mass Communication, etc.

The duration of the fellowship will be for 1 year and the amount will comprise a Stipend of Rs.12,000/- per month (Rs.16,000/- in case of a Ph.D. holders) along with an annual contingency of Rs.30,000/- and travel grant of Rs.15,000/-. Mentors will get an Honorarium of Rs.20,000/- in a year.
