GATE 2013 Notification, Exam Dates, Previous Papers and Cut Offs

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) has issued GATE 2013 notification. This is a prestigious examination for admission to M.Tech / ME programmes in IITs, NITs and various other universities and colleges for the academic year 2013-14. IIT Bombay is the organising institute for GATE 2013. The GATE page of the institute is available at http://www.gate.iitb.ac.in/gate2013/ . The Online GATE 2013 exam will be held on 20th January 2013 and offline examination will be conducted on 10th February 2013. See other details below:

New in GATE 2013: There is no application fee for girl students from GATE 2013. Online examination will be held for AE, AG, AR, BT, CE, CH, CY, GG, MA, MN, MT, PH, TF, XE and XL papers. Offline examination will be conducted for CS, EC, EE, IN, ME and PI papers. Those qualified in GATE 2013 will be eligible for M.Tech / ME and Doctoral programmes with scholarship by MHRD, Govt. of India. GATE score will be valid for two years. Eligibility: Applicants should have Bachelors degree in Engineering / Architecture in the concerned branch / specialisation. Master degree holders in Science / Statistics / Maths / Computer Applications are also eligible. Those in 2nd / higher year of 5 year Integrated Masters in Engineering OR fourth / higher year of 5 year integrated Masters / Dual Degree can apply. Being aware of important topics will help you get good score in GATE 2014.

Important Dates for GATE 2013:

1) Start of online applications: 1st September 2012
2) Close of online submission of applications: 30th September 2012
3) Receipt of hard copies of applications with enclosures: 8th October 2012
4) GATE 2013 Online exam: 20th January 2013
5) GATE 2013 offline exam: 10th February 2013

GATE 2011 – 2012 Cut Offs for IITs and NITs for all Branches

After IITs, National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are most sought after colleges for engineering education in India. NITs offer advanced specialistaions in M.Tech and ME courses. GATE scores are the main criteria for admission to NITs. Some NITs and IIITs also admit students into M.Tech without GATE scores. Following are GATE 2011 Cut Off ranks / last ranks for various NITs in the country. These are only for the awareness of the candidates. 2012 cut offs may be higher / lower depending upon the standard and difficulty level of the GATE question papers and qualifying marks. GATE 2011 Cut-Off for M.Tech/M.E. Admissions in NITs:

1) NIT Jaipur: Chemical – 382, Computers (CSE) – 611, Environmental Engineering – 466, Transportation Engineering – 450, ECE – VLSI – 632 and ECE – 601.

2) NIT Bhopal: Computers (CSE) – 611, IS – 575, VLSI – 654, Nano Technology – 601, ECE – 599.
3) DCE (Delhi College of Engineering): Computers (CSE) – 587, Information Technology (IT) – 477, ECE – 581.

4) NIT Allahabad: Computers (CSE) – 697, IS – 675, SE – 680, Control Engineering – 620, Production Engineering – 612, DE – 659, VLSI – 644, CAD – 540, GIS – 556, GEO – 352 and Structural Engineering – 354.

IITs require much more good ranks as all the GATE qualified candidates prefer to join in IITs in their first preference. IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi are in much demand for the past few years. Candidates need to excellent ranks and scores in GATE to secure M.Tech / ME seat in these institutes. Candidates should wait for the completion of counseling rounds to check their chances. They should also not that many of the candidates have appeared for GATE 2012 considering the eligibility requirements for PSU jobs. Many of them may not join M.Tech. So, wait and watch is the best policy to get the things done.
