National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India has issued notification for admission to Secondary Class (10th) and Senior Secondary Classes (XII) Stream – I for the examinations to be held in April 2013. NIOS Online admission process is open for these courses across the study centers of NIOS. Candidates can get the details form the nearest regional center of NIOS for online registration or you can visit www.nios.ac.in. Here are details of eligibility, age and application procedure:
1) Secondary Class (X or 10th): Age: Candidates should have completed 14 years of age as on 31st July 2012. They must have cleared 8th class / VIII Class.
2) Senior Secondary Class (Intermediate / XII): Age should be 15 years and must have completed 10th class. Candidates can pursue these courses from any of the study centers across the country. You can apply online through www.nios.ac.in.
The National Institute of Open Schooling is also known as NIOS, NOS or National Open School. This is the Board of Education for open schools in India. It was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India in 1989 to provide education inexpensively to remote areas of the country. The NIOS is an authorized board to administer examinations for Secondary and Senior Secondary examinations of open schools similar to the CBSE and the CISCE.
