The new JEE format for admission to Engineering courses in IITs, NIT, IIITs and other institutions is making inroads as more and more states accepting to participate in the examinations. The IIT JEE examination and AIEEE exam have been scrapped and replaced by a single JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations. The reports says that Gujarat and Goa have already accepted to participate in JEE Main from the academic year 2014-15.
West Bengal also proposed to come under the purview JEE Main from the academic year 2015-16. Minister for Human Resource Development has informed that about 29 deemed universities have also accepted to take JEE Main exam scores for admission to engineering courses in their institutions.
BITS Pilani is not in favour of JEE examinations and has been on its way to conduct own examination as it is doing at present. Several other state are studying the pros and cons of accepting JEE Main and may come out with decisions soon or later this year.
