UPES Dehradun UPES-MET for MBA and BBA Admissions

The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun has announced MBA and BBA admission notification. UPES is one of the reputed sectoral business schools in the country. The university is recognized by UGC and NAAC. It is accredited by the Energy Institute, UK. More important unique feature of UPES is, it offer 42 specialized programs related to Oil and Gas, Power, Transportation, Infrastructure and Logistics and Supply Chain sectors. UPES conducts separate Management Entrance Test (UPES-MET) for admission to MBA programmes. It has separate College of Management and Economic Studies (CMES) for management programmes. Following are details of courses, eligibility and application procedure:

A) MBA Programmes:

Eligibility: Admission to all MBA programmes will be based on UPES Management Entrance Test (UPES-MET), a national level entrance test, Group Discussion and Interview. Applicants should have minimum 50 percent marks at Higher and Senior Secondary levels (10th and 12th Classes). They should have Engineering or B. Sc. (PCM) with minimum 50 percent marks. Candidates having minimum CAT score of 75 percentile or GMAT Score of 600 or MAT score of 80 Percentile will be exempted from UPES Management Entrance Test and they will be directly called for Group Discussion and Interview. Duration is 2 years.

B) BBA Programmes:

1. BBA (Oil and Gas Marketing)
2. BBA (Auto – Retailing)
3. BBA (Logistics)
4. BBA (Aviation Operations)

Eligibility for BBA: Applicants should have minimum 50 percent marks at Higher and Senior Secondary levels (10th and 12th Classes). For BBA (Oil and Gas Marketing), candidates should have studied science or commerce stream. Duration is three years.

MBA in Power Management at NPTI

National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Faridabad, a specialized institute for power engineering courses is also offering MBA in Power Management. The specialization is first of its kind in India with focus on power management. Number of seats available are 120. The seats are distributed as General – 53, SC-16, ST-08 and for OBC – 28. Apart from these, there will 15 seats under sponsored category. The course is offered in collaboration with Maharshi Dayanand University (Rohtak University).

Eligibility for MBA (Power Management): Candidates should appear for CAT examination which scores can be used for shortlisting the candidates for further rounds of selections. Sponsored category candidates need not appear for CAT examination. Applicants should have B.E or B.Tech or B.Sc. (Engineering) in any branch of Engineering. They should have secured at least 60 percent marks in aggregate. Candidates with CAT scores of minimum 50 percent are only eligible to apply. Those appearing for the final year or semester examination can also apply.

Admission Process: Those shortlisted through CAT scores will be called for Group Discussions and Interviews to be conducted at NPTI. MBA (Power Management) is a two year program with four semesters. In the first year, candidates will take major functional / general management areas such as Human Resources, Operations, Finance and Accounting, Marketing, Information Technology and Core Power Sector areas.

NPTI provides summer project of 8 weeks duration. NPTI has good reputation in the industries and places all its students in various companies. Application fee is Rs. 1000 (Rs. 500 for SC and ST and Rs. 250 for Haryana SC, ST candidates). Fee should be paid in the form of DD drawn in favour of National Power Training Institute payable at Faridabad. Last date for the receipt of completed applications is 28th February 2012.
