NEET-UG Common Entrance Test for MBBS Admissions 2012-13 – Seats, Syllabus, Exam Structure and Question Paper Pattern

Here comes another All India level entrance test for the convenience of thousands of aspirants of medical education. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to conduct the All India Level Common Entrance Test for admission to Under Graduate medical courses (MBBS) for the academic year 2012-13. The test was named as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduate (NEET – UG) Admissions to MBBS, Post Graduate and Super Specialty courses. NEET – UG 2012 dates have been announced. Following the directive of the Supreme Court, the MCI has initiated the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduates (NEET-UG). The process will commence from May next year. Following are details of exam structure, scheme of examination, syllabus for the entrance test, number of seats in various courses, application procedure and info on NEET-PG and NEET-SS entrance Exams for Medical PG and Super Specialty Admissions:

Number of Seats in MBBS and PG Medical Courses:
1) Seats for Under Graduate medical courses: 42,000
2) Seats for PG medical courses: 20,600

Common Core Syllabus: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has released common core syllabus for all India MBBS entrance exam. The syllabus has been put up in the public domain for feedback till 11th August 11 2011. It is available on the MCI official website at http://www.mciindia.org/tools/announcement/CoreSyllabus_NEET-UG.pdf . After taking into consideration any objections and opinions from students, parents and educationists and experts in the field, the syllabus for physics, chemistry and biology subjects would be finalized. The prescribed syllabus has been prepared and moderated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The modalities and formalities for NEET-Post Graduation common entrance test (NEET – PG) for medical post-graduate (MD / MS) admissions are being worked out by the MCI and NCERT.

Examination Schedules: The NEET- UG examination is scheduled for the academic session January-February 2012. The pattern of the examination for NEET -UG, distribution of questions across different subjects and model questions for the entrance exam will be made available to all the students, parents and public on the website in August 2011. The NEET-SS for admission to super-specialty courses (DM/MCh) is also scheduled for June 2012.

    If you are determined that NEET-UG exam will start from 2012 only , then please look at the syllabus of biology. please include human physiology and omit plant physiology. Please look at this problem . please…..

  2. WE R GOING TO RRAD MBBS IN NEXT FIVE YEARS BUT THEIR IS NO HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY IN ENTRANCE SYLLABUS.R U SURE SIR THAT WE WILL READ COCKROACH PHYSIOLOGY IN MEDICAL COLLEGES.PLEASE INTRODUSE OUR PHYSIOLOGY,NOT OTHERS.

    • yes it’s true that question paper will be objective and comprises 180 questions with no negative marking. i have read it recently in mtg magazine

  4. PLEASE LET THE QUESTION PAPER BE OBJECTIVE AND BETTER IF ONLY CONCEPTUALS OF PHYSICS ARE INCLUDED SINCE BIOLOGY STUDENTS FACE A LOT OF PROBLEM IN PHYSICS AND BEST IF PHYSICS BE EXCLUDED.

  5. sir,please make the biology syllabus comfortable for not only cbse students but who study their state books too because we should go on with 2 year syllabus with in short duration of time and we are about to complete our 12th class..

  6. Sir we have to study human physiology in MBBS so plant physiology should be omitted as we have to treat human beings in hospitals not plants. please release a sample paper so we can know the pattern of paper & chemistry syllabus should be reduced. Thank You

  7. Dear sir,
    Please include Human physiology in the syllabus as that unit in biology is the sole resaon why most of the biology students take up medicine. Plant Physiology is not going to help budding doctors in any form sir. Take out that unit if u really want to give us students a relief from tedious learning, but please keep human physiology. After all, we are going to be treating human beings in a hospital, Not plants….
