Here comes another All India level entrance test for the convenience of thousands of aspirants of medical education. The Medical Council of India (MCI) has decided to conduct the All India Level Common Entrance Test for admission to Under Graduate medical courses (MBBS) for the academic year 2012-13. The test was named as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduate (NEET – UG) Admissions to MBBS, Post Graduate and Super Specialty courses. NEET – UG 2012 dates have been announced. Following the directive of the Supreme Court, the MCI has initiated the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduates (NEET-UG). The process will commence from May next year. Number of Seats and Medical Colleges under NEET-UG is available in the earlier post on NEET-UG 2012. Following are details of exam structure, scheme of examination, syllabus for the entrance test, number of seats in various courses, application procedure and info on NEET-PG and NEET-SS entrance Exams for Medical PG and Super Specialty Admissions:
Number of Seats in MBBS and PG Medical Courses:

Common Core Syllabus: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has released common core syllabus for all India MBBS entrance exam. It is available on the MCI official website at http://www.mciindia.org/tools/announcement/CoreSyllabus_NEET-UG.pdf . After taking into consideration any objections and opinions from students, parents and educationists and experts in the field, the syllabus for physics, chemistry and biology subjects would be finalized. The prescribed syllabus has been prepared and moderated by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The modalities and formalities for NEET-Post Graduation common entrance test (NEET – PG) for medical post-graduate (MD / MS) admissions are being worked out by the MCI and NCERT.
Examination Schedules: The NEET- UG examination is scheduled for the academic session January-February 2012. The pattern of the examination for NEET -UG, distribution of questions across different subjects and model questions for the entrance exam will be made available to all the students, parents and public on the website in August 2011. The NEET-SS for admission to super-specialty courses (DM/MCh) is also scheduled for June 2012.
It’s really a nice decision the govt. has taken.
Now it would be possible for a student to show his real talent in a uniform stage.
when will the final syllabus of NEET UG be revealed???
its already september now
we need time to prepare for it .pls tell the syllabus soon!
The court should think twice before it gives the judgment. How can the students immeiately adopt to such measures which is really troubling them pshycologically. The pressure from the situation is created from either sides (parents & colleges).Try to implement from day one so that the syllabus will be systematised and the materials will be readily available for them inthe market. Now still all the state govts are not giving any clear picture.I can understand the agony of the students and parents who are under stress whether their ward has to study either of the syllabus prescribed by the state board or the ncert. Why cant the MCI take an quick action in this matter to really help the students life!
as there, in India have not same syllabus in every state, there have an unfair advantage for CBSE students.
Dear sir
I would like to share my feedback on NEET syllabus with you…
The move by MCI to reduce the burden of entrance exam should be welcomed, but I would like to draw your attention on biology syllabus..
You have left out the Human physiology part almost completely.. here are my worries if this happens…
1) Human physiology is what students will have to study in their first year at medical college, if they have no base or foundation about basic human systems in 11th and 12th class how do you expect them to cope up with detailed physiology directly in medical college?
2) The first year of MBBS is only of 10 months in duration and students have to study human anatomy, human physiology and biochemistry etc. The basic human physiology taught till now in 11th and 12th makes the basis for him to grab physiology at medical college level.. This omission of topics like human circulation, blood, respiration, skeleton, excretion, endocrine and nervous system at entrance exam level will make him blind and knowledgeless when he enters in the first MBBS..
3) Such thing will only promote private tuitions and coachings in colleges by medical college faculties..
4) You have kept human reproduction, reproductive health etc in the syllabus.. How do you expect a PMT student to understand reproduction and reproductive health without having any knowledge of sex hormones? ( as you have deleted endocrine system from syllabus)
5) Cockroach is not at all a replacement of animal physiology.. its an insect and has everything very different.. this is ridiculous that a student aspiring to become a doctor will be tested on his knowledge of cockroach to enter a medical college…
6) The essence of NEET is to pick and choose students with more inclination and intelligence towards medical science.. so that we could give more deserving raw materials to medical college to work on… hence we should focus on reducing the burden of irrelevant physics, physical chemistry and core botany part.. rather than deleting what will form the basis of student’s knowledge in mbbs and during his practice life long
I hope you will take my feedback seriously and make amendments..
This is in the interest of the MCI, its reputation and society…
Thanking you,
Respected clients,
Kindly announce the sample of question paper as soon as possible. I think its much late. Don’t mci have a well furnished preplanned. Surprises are somehow joy-able at funny jokes at home but isn’t mci in a funny body but at least not a foolish body.. It is our soul emotion.
GOOD. BUT SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED AS POSSSIBLE.
sir,
that is nice to conduct only one exam all over in India…but this syllabus is different than other board syllabus.
And we have completed whole syllabus and therefore it is difficult to comlete this syllabus in short period of time.
So it is some about giving the advantage to the CBSE students and unfair to other common students.
So it is better to take exam in next year.
sir it is very good decision to have a single CET in country in 2012-13 but sir please do you conform syllabus and exam pattern early soon.Sir please do not remove human physiology and instead of that remove plant physiology. I request please conduct NEET-UG from 2012 .
please look at the syllabus opf physics
its really very lengthy
reduce it and add human phiosology in the syllabus
its a kind request.
thankyou
