Ministry of Culture, Government of India has announced Senior and Junior Fellowships for outstanding persons in the field of culture. These fellowships will be awarded for undertaking research oriented projects in the discipline of culture. The applicant should provide evidence of his or her capabilities in undertaking the project. The Fellowships will not be granted for training and conducting workshops, seminars or documenting memoirs or for writing autobiographies, fiction, etc. Here are other details.
1) Senior / Junior Fellowships in the Field of Performing, Literary and Plastic Arts: These include Music, Dance, Theatre, Folk Traditional and Indigenous Arts including Puppetry, Travelogue, History and Theory of Literature, Graphics, Sculpture, Painting including Folk Paintings and Research Work on Traditional Paintings and Creative Photography.
2) Senior / Junior Fellowships in the New Areas related to Culture: In the fields of Indology, Sociology of Culture, Cultural Economics, Epigraphy, Structural and Engineering Aspects of Monuments, Scientific and Technical aspects of Conservation, Numismatics, Management aspects of Art and Heritage, Studies relating to application of Science and technology in areas related to culture and creativity.
The number of fellowships are up to 400 each year. The number of senior fellowships will be 200. Value of each fellowship is Rs.20,000 per month. These are for the artistes in the age group of above 40 years. The Number of junior fellowships are also around 200 and value of each fellowship is Rs.10,000. Age should be between 25-40 years as on 1st April of the year. Selection will be based on the interviews for short listed candidates.
