Kendriya Vidyalayas – KV Schools Admission Procedure

Kendriya vidyalayas, much popular as KVs are known for affordable and quality education. The schools are run and managed by the department of school education, ministry of human resources development of government of India. Following is the admission procedure of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

KVs follow unique admission process across the country. The main concern of KVs is providing school education to transferable and non transferable central government employees and children of defence personnel.

The admission process of KVs starts in February – March every year. The age of the child should be 5 years at the time of the admission.

The KVs laid down detailed priority list of the children. Children of defence personnel get top priority in admissions. There are provisions for Central and state government employees children and single girl child. General applications will be given last priority. In the recent times, KVs are also giving good number of admissions to general category students.

    I am state govt employe residing within 5km from the school. my child was not selected in k. v. no. 1, jammu for the session 2015-16. 38/87child of category 1st were selected whose residence were located beyond 5km. I talked to administration from bottom to top but they didn’t bother.
    kindly guide me what should I do.
    can I go for court case?

    • Distance may not be the only criteria for KV selections. There is so much competition these days for KV admissions. Mostly it depends upon luck several times. Keep trying for next classes if possible or try for some recommendation (MP etc.)

  3. Hi Admin,
    My father is a BHEL Employee, and my brother is in 5th standard currently, am looking for 6th standard admission in KV. I’am roaming to kv hcu(HYD) and kv Gachibowli (HYD) for every now and then for his Admission, but no am not getting any perfect info.
    So, I request you to please let me know if there are any vacancies in either of the branches of KV, if so, the dates to get and submission of application.

    My daughter born in 24.05.2010 and study in private school in bangalore.
    can she get admission into KV for this Acadamic year (2016-17) for class I.
    We dont have any quota . We belongs to genera category. we are staying in vijayanagar bangalore.

    • KV Gachibowli and HCU campus may be nearer to you. The admissions are under progress. Check the details with respective schools.

    I’m seeking for III std admission for my son, now he is in II std. The school is non-affiliated but it is a CBSC School. we plan to avail the MP quota.Is MP recommendation acceptable for us. pls guide me sir.

    • All the KVs are affiliated to CBSE as they are funded and managed by Central Government. Anybody can try for a seat under MP quota.
