Kendriya Vidyalayas – KV Schools Admission Procedure

Kendriya vidyalayas, much popular as KVs are known for affordable and quality education. The schools are run and managed by the department of school education, ministry of human resources development of government of India. Following is the admission procedure of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

KVs follow unique admission process across the country. The main concern of KVs is providing school education to transferable and non transferable central government employees and children of defence personnel.

The admission process of KVs starts in February – March every year. The age of the child should be 5 years at the time of the admission.

The KVs laid down detailed priority list of the children. Children of defence personnel get top priority in admissions. There are provisions for Central and state government employees children and single girl child. General applications will be given last priority. In the recent times, KVs are also giving good number of admissions to general category students.

    I am working in postal department. My son D.O.B is 13.01.2011. Can I apply for first standard admission to my child in the next FY I.e. 2018-2019. Is he eligible or not. Please help me.

    For First standard admission, applied through online for some of the KV schools in Tamilnadu. shorlisted for one of that KV shool. It is 100 KM away from my place.
    Do they have rights to deny the seat because of distance?
    And also they are asking for local proof? Is it right? what do we need to do to get the seat?

    • Yes Santhanam,
      Distance does matter in school admissions. 100 KMs is too far and will not be acceptable. You can submit an undertaking / self – declaration of change of location near to the school and join the child if interested in that school.

  3. Hi, I got d Mp recommendation letter for my single daughter admission to class 3 in 2017-18 session. But Mr MP mentioned only a coupon number in his letter, a copy of this letter is submitted to MHRD & Commissioner KV sangathan but clerk at KV commissioner mentioned of some coupon & internal order from MHRD to KV commissioner. I’m putting in a lot of hard work to secure admission but the whole working & process is not clear. Please help urgently.

    I want to take admission in 1st class of my twin child named Arnav and Aarav.when I will apply online is it compulsary to write twins because in air Force school they reject one application as they said that I think by mistake I have given him two applications or normally I will apply for both is sufficient in online for admission in kV

    I am Pradheep. My daughter’s DOB is 19.07.2005. She is studying in class VII in CBSE school. Norms of the age limit in KV schools is she would be finishes Age 12 as on march’18 for admitting class 8. Can my daughter eligible for admits in class 8 in 2017-2018 academic year. Sir, Please replay me. I am in confused.

    My father was retired PSU Bank employee.
    I want to put my Son on KV school.
    Is it any preperance for him?

    I am working in central government(transferable all over India), my daughter is already studying in KV. Now I want to put my son in KV. Can I get it easily? I want to know the exact number or percentage of seats for each category.

  8. Iam andhra pradesh government teacher,my children are students of k v venkatagiri 4th,1st respectively.I have a transfer to kuppam near Bangalore. Are my children eligible for admission to get into k v banglore
