Kendriya Vidyalayas – KV Schools Admission Procedure

Kendriya vidyalayas, much popular as KVs are known for affordable and quality education. The schools are run and managed by the department of school education, ministry of human resources development of government of India. Following is the admission procedure of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

KVs follow unique admission process across the country. The main concern of KVs is providing school education to transferable and non transferable central government employees and children of defence personnel.

The admission process of KVs starts in February – March every year. The age of the child should be 5 years at the time of the admission.

The KVs laid down detailed priority list of the children. Children of defence personnel get top priority in admissions. There are provisions for Central and state government employees children and single girl child. General applications will be given last priority. In the recent times, KVs are also giving good number of admissions to general category students.

    I have applied in KV for my son for 1st class under RTE quota(OBC non-creamy layer). I work in a private organization and residing 2km to school. Is it mandatory to come when RTE lottery time?
    Those who come on the lottery date their applications only considered?

  2. i am trying for 1st std admission in KV for my son.so applied for all regions in general category as well as we are trying through MP quota ..if we got admission how can we transfer from that region to our preferable location…

    transfers are really possible in KV ?
    if possible what is the process and how many months kid has to stay in that location ? and from which date thay will consider, from AP 1 or june

      Transfers are possible in KVs providing valid reasons, such as transfer of parents. KVs will have specific criteria and policy for transfers. Please speak to the principal of the school concerned.

  3. Hi! Would you let me know how does the MP recommends a seat from his quota. Do they simply (1) send a letter or (2) forward an application of the applicant or (3) KVs issue any tokens/form for admission? If the last options is takes place, may I also know when the KV Sangathan issue such token/form to MPs.

    • You need to apply for KV schools online from the academic year 2017-18. The admission process usually starts in February every year. KVs are good schools with CBSE curriculum and give importance to extra curricular activities. All the best.

    I want to join my join son in kv school. I am private employee to schools. I want to provide a good education to my son. As a parent I want to give good education nothing more than that.     My relative is high court jugde( present) and uncle is retired military officer, can i use their reference and apply for admission for son in kvs. Kindly advide. Even i had worked has a secretary Brigadier ( can get refer)
