Kendriya Vidyalayas – KV Schools Admission Procedure

Kendriya vidyalayas, much popular as KVs are known for affordable and quality education. The schools are run and managed by the department of school education, ministry of human resources development of government of India. Following is the admission procedure of Kendriya Vidyalayas.

KVs follow unique admission process across the country. The main concern of KVs is providing school education to transferable and non transferable central government employees and children of defence personnel.

The admission process of KVs starts in February – March every year. The age of the child should be 5 years at the time of the admission.

The KVs laid down detailed priority list of the children. Children of defence personnel get top priority in admissions. There are provisions for Central and state government employees children and single girl child. General applications will be given last priority. In the recent times, KVs are also giving good number of admissions to general category students.

    I live in bangalore yelahanka and heard about kendriya vidyalaya in yelahanka i have a daughter who is in the age where she can start 1st standard just wanted to check weather can a normal person apply to that school and what is the procedure of applying I currently live in the UK and planning to come back to India, could you please give me details about admission if we are allowed to admit.

    • Yes, all are eligible to apply for KV but the admissions will be based on the laid down criteria of MHRD, Govt. of India. Also check the age requirements of various classes of KV.

    Can u accept MLA recommendation in the same City as he – if Coimbatore MLA recommends 2 seats in Sowripalayam KV in Coimbatore for 1st Standard – Shall u give seats?

  7. what does it mean by “single child catogory “.i have single girl child and by luck i got seat in KV uder single child catogory.In case if i give birth to next child in few years are you going to cancel admission of my girl child who alreday got seat ?

    I am working in pvt. sector. And want to study my only son in KV. There is any chances to get him study in KV. Naraina.
