Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi issued Admission Notification for the year 2012-13. JNU (www.jnuonline.in) is highly reputed university in the country with best faculty and infrastructure. JNU offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D. Courses in various disciplines an Subjects. There are four categories of admission for JNU. All these are described below along with details of programs and application process. JNU has announced admission notification for the year 2012-13. These details are available at the end of the post. JNU also sell Previous question papers of the entrance examinations. Details may also available on http://www.jnuonline.in/.
Category – A Admissions: JNU shall hold entrance exams for these courses:
1. School of International Studies:
A) M.Phil /Ph.D.: The School offer M.Phil and Ph.D. in these Centers – International Organisation, Diplomacy and Disarmament, International Politics, International Legal Studies; International Trade and Development; Political Geography; Chinese, Japanese and Korean Studies; South Asian, Central Asian, Southeast Asian and Southwest Pacific Studies; United States and Latin American Studies; European Studies; West Asian, North African and Sub- Saharan African Studies; Canadian, and Russian and Central asian studies.
B) M.A : Politics (with specialization in International Relations)
C) M.A.: Economics (with specialization in World Economy)
2. School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies:
A) M.Phil. / Ph.D.: German, Arabic, Russian, French, Persian, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese, Hindi Translation, Tamil, English, Linguistics, Japanese and Spanish.
B) M.Phil. in Portuguese
C) M.A: Chinese, English, Arabic, German, hindi, French, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Linguistics, Persian, Spanish and Urdu.

Category B- Direct Admission to Ph.D. Programme:
JNU admits some students directly to Ph.D. programme on the basis of their performance in interview. There will be no entrance exam for this category admissions.
Category-C: JNU offer direct admissio to JRF holders into M.Phil and Ph.D. Programmes in all subjects of the School of Sciences.
Category-D : JNU hold separate entrance exam for Part Time admissons

Hello sir, is there ph.d programme in public administration in jnu ?
JNU does not have separate department for public administration. It is part of Political Science Department. You can take specialisations related to public administration if you join in Ph.D. Political Science .

You will have to appear for Entrance Examination and Interviews conducted by JNU. The online application process is under progress. Apply as mentioned in the above post.

I have graduated from Delhi University in B.com.(Hons.) in 1st division. I want to pursue M.A. Philosophy from JNU. Kindly let me know if i meet the eligibility criteria. Would i have to give any entrance test to get admission, and if there is, how can i prepare for the test given that i come from a non-philosophical background? Does JNU also offer this course through distance education.
Yes, you have to appear for Entrance Test. Entrance Test will be based on syllabus of the Graduation. JNU is not offering M.Sc. Philosophy in distance mode. IGNOU might be better choice for this course (distance).
Thanks for your reply. Kindly also let me know from where can i prepare for the entrance test. Since my undergraduation is not in philosophy, do i need to join some coaching classes?

Coaching may not compulsory and also usually not available for Philosophy. Just check previous papers and get and understanding of the question paper. Most of questions will be from the syllabus of the eligible qualification. It is always good to read text books rather than bit banks.

You may appear for M.A. Geography. JNU usually do not announce cut off marks.

JNU is offering Post Graduate Courses in Life Sciences. Graduate Courses are available in Languages only. You can try for Delhi University, which has so many colleges for UG courses.

JNU do not disclose cut offs for History Entrance Exam. General cut off for admission may be 40 percent for Open and OBC categories and 35 percent for SC and STs. There are several other factors like deprivation points which influence admission process. Try to do your best irrespective of eligible cut offs.

You must have completed M.A. Sociology and should appear for M.Phil Entrance Examination to be conducted by JNU.
